´´Well, this is going to take a while´´. First of all, I tend to believe to myself that a high MR is just the sum of several factors that are affected by the way on how you play the game.
Down here I will give you some examples of some factors that I believe are critical for changing your MR:
# Type of aircraft: The type of aircraft you use determines your gamestyle and its based on 2 sub-factors: Your very own personal preferences and your wingmates planes once you are in a lobby (You don´t want to choose a Tomcat if everyone else on your team chooses Fighters like Raptors or PAK FA´s).
# Strike the ground or the air?: this depends greatly in the plane that you and both teams are using. There is not much science in here, just stay in your zone. If you choose an attacker, go for ground strikes, and if you choose a fighter, then storm the skies. But there is a 3rd options, wich is the Multirole class. These tipe of planes can attack both air or ground/sea targets alike. I ussually go with multiroles in case there is a surplus of enemies either in the air or in the ground (And yes I use a Super Hornet). Also note that multiroles are a viable option to replace slow Attackers.
# Speed: ´´The one who strikes first, strikes twice´´. That´s it, there are no more tricks except for that one. Just think of this, you will never spawn in the middle of the action, if not that both teams always spawn in a corner of the map away from the enemy, giving an starting advantage to the fastest planes. This is one of the reasons why I normally don´t use Attackers as they tend to be very slowlish (But don´t under-estimate them, they are really powerful once they get to a cluster of enemies.
# Battlefield: Knowing the map to the nearly perfection is one of the most important things you need to know, and I´m talking about remembering the possible initial spawn points of the enemies (in some maps they tend to vary more than others), the emergency update that you will face (they give you some clues when you are chosing the plane), and the final enemy spawn point (one perfect example is B7R where the final spawn of enemies may come from a huge group from the north, or three small groups that come from the East, West and South. IMPORTANT TIP: KNOWING THE MAPS MAY TAKE OUT THE FUN WHILE PLAYING AS THEY TEND TO GET REPETITIVE.
# Know your enemies and allies: Always try to join a lobby where the MR of everyone is similar to yours or a little lower (I am not defending the SEAL CLUBBING tactic in any way). Always remember that joining a really high MR lobby is like betting, you might get an S rank in some hard missions if you have a plane-wise team, or you might get many kills stolen.
# More is not always better: When you were a starter in the game you always wanted to join an 8 men room in order to get an S rank, but as you get better (because of your skill or your planes or both) you will start to feel that there aren´t enough enemies for everyone, so you might want to try a 6 men room or even a 4 men room. This means more kills for everyone, but it requires a joint effort in order to get an S rank. So its important to keep a balance between the number of enemies that you want to get enough credits, and the actual number of enemies per mission (If there aren´t many, you won´t get much kills, if there is a lot of them your team probably won´t get to kill them all to get the S rank)
