Revision as of 16:10, 1 October 2019

For other missiles that lock onto four targets at once, see Advanced Short-Range Air-to-Air Missile (XSAA), Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (XMAA/XMA4), or Advanced Long-Range Air-to-Air Missile (XLAA).

The 4 Target Air-to-Air Missile (4 Target Multi-Lock Air-to-Air Missile in Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, often shortened to 4AAM) is a missile-type air-to-air special weapon. The 4AAM has a moderate range - longer than standard missiles, but shorter than Semi-Active Air-to-Air Missiles.

The 4AAM's destructive power is dependent on the game. In Assault Horizon, 4AAMs deal about double the damage of standard missiles, but in Ace Combat Infinity, they deal about half the damage of standard missiles. The ammo count is also dependent on the game; in Assault Horizon, carrying, for example, 30 4AAMs means that the player actually carries 30 salvos of 4AAMs (thereby carrying 120 individual missiles), whereas in Infinity, carrying 30 4AAMs means that the player carries 30 individual 4AAMs. The missiles fire in full salvos in Assault Horizon, but one-by-one in Infinity unless multiple ones are locked on.

"An air-to-air missile that can lock on to and attack up to four targets simultaneously.
It is also possible to fire up to four missiles in succession against a single target to cause major damage.
It also has a comparatively long effective range, making it an easy to handle air-to-air armament."
