The ATD-0 (Advanced Technology Demonstrator – X) is a conceptual fighter aircraft developed for research purposes into advanced stealth technology.[1]

History

Infinity timeline

The aircraft is believed to have been completed during the latter half of the 2010s decade, just as in real life. Wernher and Noah Enterprises likely acquired the blueprints for the aircraft and utilized it in their Advanced Automated Aviation plants for their mercenary pilots to purchase on demand.

Game Analysis

Ace Combat Infinity

"Based on the design of a demonstrator aircraft developed by the Japanese Ministry of Defense, this aircraft has been improved and adjusted for combat purposes. Despite its small size, it features advanced mobility and stealth capabilities that rival those of 5th-generation fighter aircraft. The aircraft features technology such as a sensor, avionics and a weapon system allowing it to obtain data from the battlefield. This data is crucial for the development of 'fighter aircraft of the future.'"

Trivia

  • Ace Combat Infinity marks the first video game appearance of the ATD-X. The aircraft's virtual design was developed in collaboration with the original developer of the aircraft, the Technical Research and Development Institute (TRDI) branch of the Japanese Ministry of Defense.
  • Of all of the aircraft revealed in the Operation Future Prospect trailer, Masato Kanno believed that the ATD-X is the one that fans are most excited for.[2] He went on to say that having the ATD-X in Ace Combat was a "long-cherished wish" of the development team,[3] but they do realize the difficulty of placing a non-fighter aircraft (a testbed for stealth capabilities) in a fighter game.[4] Kanno does admit that they had to take some creative license with the airframe, especially to allow it to hold weapons.[5]
