Thunderhead is the first AWACS in Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War, displayed with blue text (friendly) until mission nineteen, when Captain Hamilton convinces Sand Island that Wardog Squadron has defected to the enemy, when it is displayed in red (enemy). AWACS Thunderhead plays a large role until that mission.
Thunderhead is a strict "by the book" commander who enforces the discipline in the Wardog squadron. His relationship toward the squadron is that of a professional one, with a love-hate bond between Alvin H. Davenport A.K.A Chopper, through the constant disputes they have over unnessary radio chatter. Despite this, he has displayed great faith in the squadron's abilities as shown during mission '8492' when he cheers the Wardog Sq to lead them to victory.
Thunderhead's last communication is during Mission 19: The Final Option:
Thunderhead: "Image faded from radar. All planes destroyed."
Thunderhead is never seen, though during Rendevous one allied plane that survived the burst missile attacks can be found fly over the fleet. The plane appears as an E-2 Hawkeye AWACS, though whether or not this is Thunderhead is never confirmed.
