The Ace Combat (エースコンバット Ēsu Konbatto; often stylized as ACE COMBAT) series is an arcade/flight simulation/action franchise created and owned by Bandai Namco Games. The series uses actual or prototype planes from real-life in their games, and is recognized as one of the most successful flight simulation franchises. Currently, there are 17 games released in the franchise. The series spans across the PlayStation consoles, Xbox 360, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo 3DS, as well as arcade systems and mobile phones.

Main Games

The main games in the series are console games that take place within a universe named by the fans as Strangereal. It has a different Earth than the real Earth or the ones seen in the other games - all of the countries, continents, conflicts, and cultures are different.

Secondary Games

The secondary games in the series are games that take place in Strangereal (or there isn't enough information to justify that it takes place anywhere specific) but don't play on standard home consoles. Instead, these games typically play on an arcade machine or mobile console.

Spin-Off Games

The spin-off games in the series are the games that generally do not take place in Strangereal. These games take place on an Earth more accurate to the real one. The exception in this list is Northern Wings, which takes place on Strangereal but is not considered "canon" by the fans.
