For other missiles that lock onto four air targets at once, see 4 Target Air-to-Air Missile, Advanced Short-Range Air-to-Air Missile, and Advanced Long-Range Air-to-Air Missile.
For the special weapon that locks onto six air targets in later games, see 6 Target Air-to-Air Missile.

The Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile, or commonly called XMAA, is a weapon first introduced to the Ace Combat series in Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies, and it has been featured in many subsequent games. Together with XSAA and XLAA, the XMAA allows the user to lock on to multiple targets at once.
In Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, there are two variants of XMAA: XMA4 and XMA6 that lock-on to 4 and 6 air targets respectively.

Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation[]
The weapon was referred to as Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile 4 (XMA4) and Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile 6 (XMA6) in this game.
- "The XMA4 can be fired at up to four air targets simultaneously, as state of the art avionics provide the special ability to track and destroy several targets at once. Its relatively long range, and ease of use make it a standard choice amongst air-to-air weapons. A compact radar embedded in the warhead ensures that this "Fire and Forget" missile will predictably guide itself to the mark."

- "The XMA6 can be fired at up to six air targets simultaneously. Its relatively long range and ease of use make it a standard choice amongst air-to-air weapons. Equipped with more advanced avionics than the XMA4, the XMA6 is able to track and destroy a greater number of targets. Aircraft choice is limited by the weapon's additional weight, brought about by the inclusion of state of the art technology and the subsequent increase in size."
