The Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile, abbreviated XSAM, is an anti-aircraft artillery unit first featured in Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation and later in Ace Combat Infinity.
Overview
Considerably more dangerous then their normal counterparts, the XSAM system can lock onto targets at much further distances; furthermore, the missiles fired from XSAMs are more aggressive in their tracking capability. They are usually identifiable as two rows of missiles, with four missiles per row. Sometimes it is also accompanied by radar guidance vehicles. The XSAM fires much like SAMs aboard ships; sometimes, this launch method gives the player more time to escape the missile.
