Ambush at Vladimir was an ambush on the Wardog Squadron set up by the 8492nd Squadron.
Prelude
After the Battle of Cruik, a massive battle between the Osean ground forces and the Yuktobanian troops at Cruik Fortress, the 108th TFS "Wardog" headed east, back to their base. The battle at Cruik had left the Yuktobanian capital city of Cinigrad open to the Osean forces; Cruik was the last Yuktobanian stronghold to that point. The Osean forces claimed the fortress theirs and prepared to make their attack on Cinigrad.
Ambush
As the Wardog Squadron flew east towards Osea, they encountered the 8492nd Squadron over the Vladimir Mountains and AWACS Thunderhead, their AWACS to that point. He ordered Wardog to follow the 8492nd to a tanker aircraft for aerial refueling. They followed the order, until the 8492nd vanished from radar. A missile was shot toward Blaze, Wardog's leader. A second missile appeared, also flying at Blaze. Then, a flight of Belkan Su-47s appeared, along with an E-767 jammer plane. The player can either decide to ignore the Belkans, shake off their missiles and escape through the return line, or stay to turn and burn with the Belkans. Later, a second Belkan squadron will appear, throwing a few YF-23s in with the Su-47s. Both are risky, as ignoring the Belkan planes will leave the player completely open, while in dogfighting, the enemy planes will join into large, close range groups, and since the Belkans are known as aces, they are much harder to deal with.
Afterwards
After the ambush, the Wardog landed back at the Sand Island Base, but were deemed as traitors. They were forced to escape from the airbase in training jets, lead by their mechanic, former Belkan ace Wolfgang Buchner.
