Antares Squadron

The M42 Antares Squadron is a main fighter squadron belonging to the private military company Martinez Security, and is featured as the player's squadron in Ace Combat X2: Joint Assault. The team is first deployed in Tokyo, in the outset of the Valahia Crisis and lastly they deployed on Golden Axe Plan crisis in United States of America.

Valahia Crisis

The M42 Squadron's first known deployment was at a joint military show at the Midway Islands. During the show, the squadron confronted a large formation of aircraft and successfully shot down the formation and consequently began the Valahia Crisis but it ended the crisis after the Valahia's main headquarters, an old Russian nuclear missile silo, was destroyed after a nuclear missile was destroyed by Antares One.

Golden Axe Plan Crisis

Golden Axe Plan Private Army are in abandoned airport at Sierra Mountains, Nevada and a new Spiridus is near Lake Tahoe. First, Antares One, Dog Bear Unit, Lazy Bear Unit and Black Bear Unit are attacking the airport and the Martinez Security ground forces used the airport's powerful missile system to disable the Spiridus' READS defense system that protect the Hi-TASM so Antares can destroy it and electrolaser cannon and lastly the ground forces fired the missile and destroy the Spiridus. Finally, the team headed to San Francisco and destroy all remaining GAP Private Army from attacking the city. Then, Varcolac Squadron joined the private army and challange Antares in battle. He shot down all Milosz Sulejmani's wingmen but he challanged Antares alone for a long battle and Antares ultimately shot him down. Lastly, Dog Bear Unit stormed Olivieri Life Insurance HQ's underground data center and Andre Olivieri screamed at the PMC that he will never be stopped but he was killed by Antares himself and ended the crisis.

Trivia

The squadron's namesake is based off Antares, a super-giant star located in the Milky Way constellation Scorpius, where the scorpion in the team's emblem comes from.
The Antares Squadron is the first in the 'modern' Ace Combat series wherein all the pilots' information are unknown.
