Awakening is the first mission of the Japanese version of Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere. It is also the first mission on the UPEO campaign. This mission introduces the player to the gameplay system, as well as the basics of the storyline.

Mission Story

"For ten years, General Resource and Neucom have been at odds with each other. Breaking the stalemate, Neucom finally launches a major military operation against General Resource. In response, UPEO decides to deploy their special air force, “SARF,” to keep relations between the two companies from deteriorating further."

Briefing

At 0750 hours today,
Neucom initiated a large-scale military operation
against General Resource.
We at UPEO
must intervene in order to prevent relations
from deteriorating further.
Should Neucom choose to ignore our warning,

Objectives

Mission Start

The primary targets (TGT) consist of four R-501 Rhincodon transport planes. They are escorted by two R-101 Delphinus #1 fighters and two R-201 Asterozoa attackers.

If the player takes longer than 3 minutes to shoot down the R-501s, the mission will end once the fourth is shot down.

Mission Update

The Mission Update will only activate if the R-501s are shot down in less than 3 minutes.

A second wave of R-101s will appear. Only one of them is marked as TGT. Shooting down the TGT R-101 will end the mission.

A Rank

To earn an A Rank, the player must defeat the first wave of TGTs in less than 3 minutes, and shoot down a total of 10 enemy aircraft.
