Speaking with 4gamer.net on November 15, Bandai Namco producer Katsuhiro Harada stated that Project Morpheus - the virtual reality headset Sony is producing for the PlayStation 4 - is not suitable for Ace Combat titles. We perform insane maneuvers in these games, such as loops, inverted flight, spins, as well as recovering from them all, and such behavior would cause "nausea and motion sickness", said Harada. (Mostly because humans aren't supposed to control aircraft this easily. :P)
Personally, I never thought that Ace Combat would support virtual reality in the first place, but this does stink for anyone who wanted to see it happen. However, there's something important to take away from this. Harada-san ruled out a PS4 technology from being suitable for a series whose future hasn't even been confirmed yet. Could this mean that a PlayStation 4 Ace Combat is currently in the works? No confirmation, but I think we've got a bright light shining for now with this.
