The burst missile is a long-range ballistic missile deployed by A World With No Boundaries in Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, Erusea in Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies, and the Scinfaxi-class submarines in Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War. The weapon derives its name from the method of detonation, where it usually splits into multiple warheads, each detonating in a massive ballistic explosion in mid-air, destroying anything in a 2,500 ft. radius.
History
Belkan War
The first use of burst missiles was observed at the close of the Belkan War in late 1995. Belka was the first country to produce burst missiles, but A World With No Boundaries, a paramilitary terrorist group, had gotten a hold of the technology. They fitted the burst missiles onto a specialized superfighter, the ADFX-02 Morgan, and allowed Larry Foulke to use them, and the Morgan, in battle.
After the Belkan War came to a close, Yuktobania gained the burst missile technology in the peace agreements (whereas Osea got a hold of Belka's laser technology). In doing so, they decided to create the Scinfaxi-class submarines, the Scinfaxi and Hrimfaxi. These projects went by largely unnoticed by the world, only appearing in newspaper articles when the prototype of the Scinfaxi was completed (the Hrimfaxi was never publicly announced). The burst missiles were unheard of for the next 10 years.
