The player will spawn flying NW towards the Chandelier, during which will pass over several islands and craters. Along the way, Melissa will begin speaking on the radio. Melissa and Ghost Eye will have a short exchange, after which the Chandelier Control Room will state "Roger. Resume attacks immediately". A cutscene plays of Strigon team taking off and of the Chandelier firing. When the cutscene ends, Strigon Team will spawn ahead of the player, followed by several other enemies. Melissa will inform Ghost Eye about the cooling units and sends the data. Afterward, a cutscene plays depicting the sending of the updated target data.

==Part 1==
+
===Mission Update 1===
  +
After the end of the target data transfer cutscene, the cooling units will be displayed as targetable by the player after the mission update. There are a total of 12 cooling units; of which, 6 (in the front and back) also have shielding which must be destroyed first while the remaining 6 to the side are unshielded. Periodically, a WARHEAD target will spawn inside the gutter beneath the barrel between the 6 gun towers, accompanied by an Estovakian radio transmission stating "initial Stauros loading". If a warhead is destroyed, the launch sequence will be delayed, and later another transmission indicating the loading will be heard. If not, the Chandelier will fire sometime after, creating a large shock wave along the projectile's path of motion which can kill the player in a similar fashion to Nimbus missies or Excalibur. In addition, if enough warheads are allowed to be launched, Gracemeria will be destroyed and the mission will be failed. After the destruction of all the cooling units, Allied units will find out about the existence of the backup cooling unit, and Shamrock will declare that he's going in for a recon run. A cutscene will be triggered, after which the second mission update occurs.

  +
===Mission Update 2===
[[File:Untitled3.png|thumb|216px|Beginning]]The mission starts with the player flying over glaciers on the coastline of Sonne Island, the location of the Chandelier. Then, a strange communication appears:

  +
After the cutscene ends, the Backup Cooling Unit will appear as targetable. The player will be ordered to fly into the same gutter where the warheads were loaded to access the Backup Cooling Unit. At the same time, the highly lethal gun turrets defending the gutter will also become targetable and destructible. Inside the trench are also a couple of AA guns. After the player enters, destroys the backup cooling unit, and escapes from the other side, the third mission update will commence.

  +
===Mission Update 3===
*Melissa: [STATIC]

  +
After the destruction of the backup cooling unit, the player will be commanded to fly down the barrel of the Chandelier to destroy the core. At the same time, on EXPERT difficulty and higher, the ace KOROL, as well as a flight of F-4Es, will spawn from the Strigon runway in an attempt to take off and flee. The barrel will slowly close, and if the player fails to enter the barrel and destroy the CORE before the barrel closes, the mission will fail. If the player successfully does so and exits through the back, a cutscene will play and the mission will be accomplished.

*Melissa: I'd like to say hello!

*Melissa: Hello to all Emmerian Air Force pilots in the Northern Sky!

*Lanner: What the...? Who's voice is that?

*Melissa: I'm just a civilian. My name's Melissa Herman.

*Ghost Eye: I think it's coming from Gracemeria's radio station. Hey, we're in a war zone here!

*Melissa: ......I don't know a whole lot about war, but.....

*Melissa: But there's something I need to tell you!

*Matilda: Please, pilots! Listen to my mom! She has something important to say!

*Shamrock: We might as well hear what she has to say...

*Melissa: Please, trust me on this! The Estovakian military...

*Melissa: ....has that battery. And it can't be destroyed!

*Ghost Eye: She might be trying to disrupt our operation, I better contact Gracemeria Base...

*Shamrock: Wait! Let's hear her out first!

*Melissa: But that's when its construction was completed...

*Chandelier Launch Room: Recovered to optimum cooling. We can resume with launching.

*Chandelier Control Room: Roger. Resume attacks immediately.

It is at this point that the player enters a cutscene. The cutscene shows the remaining Strigon Team members taking off from the Chandelier's runway. After their take-off, the player sees the Chandelier fire one of its dreaded cruise missilies. After the cutscene, the player must temporarily fight off the Strigon Team meanwhile Melissa tries to send you data on the Chandelier. After a short interval, another cutscene is shown, showing Garuda Team receiving data on the Chandelier's multiple targets. The Garuda Team rises up to the challenge, and heads towards the Chandelier.

After the first part of the mission, the player must destroy all of the Chandelier's cooling units. These cooling units are shielded by several barriers that cannot be destroyed easily. It will take several missiles to take out these barriers. After these are destroyed, the cooling units are quite easy to destroy alone.

[[File:Chandelier.jpg|thumb|300px|Battle above the Chandelier]]The player must also be on the lookout for the Chandelier's AA defenses. These defenses are not like ordinary defenses as they inflict a bit more than others. It is also harder for the player to destroy these defenses as he or she must align themselves in a good position in order to take them out. The amount of damage that is inflicted depends on what difficulty the mission is being played on.

The Chandelier's AA defenses aren't the only problem, as the player must also face a fleet of Estovakian ships and the Strigon Team, both constantly firing missilies towards you at the worst possible moments, so the player have to fight with a red screen. During the process, Chandelier continues loading warheads and fires at Gracemeria again and again, condition of damage the city sustains will be reported via radio, after several hits, mission automatically fail as the city is destroyed. The only way to prevent Gracemaria from being attacked is destroy Chandelier's warheads while loading from the trench beneath its main structure, which is risky to crash, if the warhead is loaded, there's no way to stop the railgun from firing. Once you destroy all cooling units, you enter the final part of the mission.

It's possible to fail the mission if too many warheads are fired. Before the final shot, the previous warhead's damage will include chatter from gracemeria's officials mentioning about an area that has taken too much damage and must evacuate. The final launch from the railgun will have a unique dialogue from the estovakian staff than the other dialogues saying,"Staurous launch in 5..4..3..2..1..launch." but will instead say in a much more serious voice,"3...2..1...STAUROUS LAUNCH!". Avalanche will then say,"They shot another one." After a few seconds later, AWACS will say,"I.....I lost all contact with Gracemeria...Gracemerias been destroyed..." The Mission Failed status will appear shortly followed by Windhover saying,"We let our country down."

After all of this, a back-up cooling unit is revealed inside the Chandelier, at the very back of the warhead loading system. Then, at a very great personal risk, Shamrock flies inside this tunnel in order to get data on the extra cooling unit. He manages to get the data, but is shot down in the process because of the heavy AA fire. He has an off-screen bailout. This is also the first time his real name is mentioned, as Ghost Eye frantically shouts " Shamrock! Respond!! Marcus, Marcus!!!" upon seeing Shamrock go down. After this, the player must enter the loading system, fly in the tunnel, and take out the extra cooling unit. It is suggested that the player takes out the enemy's AA towers at the beginning of the tunnel, as they can easily destroy you. There are also some AA installations inside, which the player must be careful with. After the player flies into the tunnel and destroys the extra cooling unit, he or she must fly out for the final objective.

After exiting the tunnel, the Chandelier is seen heating up from the barrel, and it is shown that its core is in its back. It is then up to the player to fly inside its barrel and take it out. Beware though: if the Chandelier's core isn't destroyed quickly, the barrel will slowly start to close, something not good if you're barely entering the tunnel. If the player manages to get inside and destroy the core, the mission is completed and the final cutscene is shown.

"Chandelier"[b] is the final campaign mission of Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation. The player must destroy the Chandelier doomsday weapon.

Briefing

I'll be relaying orders to you. We have received preliminary results from the tests regarding the recent missile attack. We've spotted a potential launch area for that second cruise missile shot at Gracemeria. It most likely came from a facility in the northern sea of Estovakia -- somewhere in the vicinity of Sonne Island. About 15 years ago... The Ulysses collision brought about a state of misery and fear unprecedented in modern history. Nations worldwide took their own measures on how to deal with the impending crisis posed by meteors if they were to hit the earth. The Estovakians had developed a giant rail gun for the purpose of intercepting those meteors, but for some reason they stopped short of bringing it to fruition, and soon after, meteors had fallen on many nations -- Estovakia among them. There is not much intelligence available concerning this giant rail gun, and nothing of it has been made public since the prototype. Some from the Emmerian Ministry of Science and Technology were concerned about the potential dangers of the meteor interception system used as a weapon of war. As crisis loomed, the nations banded together and decided to prohibit any further development of the meteor interception system. Although the technology was being developed for peaceful purposes, the potential for evil was far too great[note 1] a risk to take. Emmeria cannot be at peace until the threat of cruise missiles has been completely eliminated. You've been assigned to investigate an area just north of Sonne Island. Destroy any cruise missiles found and their facilities. If you happen to encounter any threatening objects, move into attack formation immediately. Blow the hell out of all targets. It's time to put an end to this tragic period in our history, which has emerged as a result of the Ulysses incident.
