A common feature in the Ace Combat series, clear rank gives the player a certain letter grade after a mission's completion to evaluate their performance. The feature was first introduced in Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere and has been utilized in almost every Ace Combat game since.

Description[]

The player is assigned their clear rank at the end of a mission, typically during the debriefing. Different games have different clear ranks available to the player. Typically, the lowest clear rank is C, followed by B, then A, and finally S. The player is sometimes rewarded with bonus points depending on their clear rank.

In some games, medals or aircraft are unlocked by completing all missions with an S Rank.

Games[]

  • Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies: The player's clear rank is noted at the top-left of the screen in the Head-up display
  • Ace Combat: Assault Horizon: Features C, B, and A ranks. The Japan and Asia versions feature B, A, and S ranks.
  • Ace Combat Infinity: Features E, D, C, B, A, and S ranks.
  • Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown: Features D, C, B, A, and S ranks. The player's performance is graded by a combination of completion time and kill score. Getting a grade on higher difficulty will not automatically grant the same grade on lower difficulties. Completing all missions with an S rank on the same difficulty (except for Easy difficulty) will give the player a Medal and unlock a skin for one of the planes. Completing a mission with an S rank on Ace difficulty will also unlock a Multiplayer Nickname for each mission.
