"Trigger, time to show the other guys that we get wet, wild, and do dirty, dirty things."
― Clown during Operation Dual Wielder

Clown is the flight lead of the Mage Squadron, an Osean Air Defense Force squadron assigned to the IUN's peacekeeping forces. While he seems caring at first glance, he is an opportunistic man.[2] He is the player's first wingman in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.

Biography

Clown recommended Trigger to the IUN-PKF with the intent of filling a vacant spot in Mage Squadron, claiming he was a skilled pilot despite Trigger being a rookie.[3]

Clown, along with Trigger and Golem Squadron carried out the defense of Fort Grays Island following a surprise attack by Erusean bombers following the onset of hostilities on May 15, 2019. The mission was successful in shooting down all bombers, leading to the IUN to enter Mage and Golem Squadrons into the order of operations to retake the International Space Elevator.[4]

Both Mage and Golem Squadrons took part in an operation two days later to destroy Erusean radar vehicles near a former IUN base at the Scofields Plateau to clear a path to the ISEV for the IUN troops. Despite the Erusean resistance, all radar vehicles were eliminated, alongside the air base and its MQ-99 interceptors.[4]

Following the success of their previous operation, the IUN forces, including Clown, launched a two-pronged offensive to retake the International Space Elevator. Mage, alongside Golem Squadron, Gargoyle Squadron, and Skeleton Squadron sortied to the Chopinburg Rainforest to obtain air superiority. Briefly successful in this goal, they were almost immediately thwarted by the sudden arrival of the Arsenal Bird and were forced to retreat with heavy casualties, including the entire Skeleton Squadron.[5]

Having been informed that former Osean president Vincent Harling was hiding in the space elevator and awaiting extraction, Mage Squadron became a key part of the operation to rescue him. After sending Trigger alone through an Erusean radar net, Clown arrived for support, alongside Golem and Gargoyle Squadrons. Despite their best efforts, the mission ultimately ended in failure when Harling's MV-22 was shot down, killing him. Clown attempted to defend Trigger against accusations from the other pilots by pointing out the chaos of the battlefield and the close proximity of the drones to Harling's Osprey, but Trigger was nonetheless court-martialled and transferred to Spare Squadron.[6]
