"It's being jammed!"

The electronic warfare in the Ace Combat series is a technology which in term of gameplay would provide the radar jamming, radio communication distortion, missile lock-on & homing disruption for opponent side of the operator, and or a support for allies to gain advantages over the skies.

The electronic warfare itself consists of Electronic Countermeasure (ECM), Electronic Support Measure (ESM), and the two-in-one Integrated Electronic Warfare System (IEWS).

Gameplay

Electronic Countermeasure

The effects of Electronic Countermeasure in the game are radar jammed, radio communication distorted, and missile lock-on & homing disrupted. The effects will occur when there are jammer aircraft or facilities in the operation area. The effects are last for few seconds up to minutes long if the jamming is severe. So when the player is still in radius effect, the engage can only be done manually either via machine gun shots, bombing run, or missiles blind-firing until the effects end.

Appearances

Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies

Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War

Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War

Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown

NOTE: Jamming may or may not occur in Gaiuss Tower and Wild Card, depending on whether the player completed In Pursuit I or In Pursuit II first.

Electronic Support Measure

The Electronic Support Measure, as its name suggests, will provide support for allies in the battle. It was firstly introduced in Ace Combat Infinity as aircraft's special weapon. The allies that are within radius effect will gain longer duration to maintain the Tactical Datalink before loss to it when trying to get out from its range. This, if is translated, means giving advantages for allies such as faster missile lock-on & firing speed and longer missile lock-on range.
