Emmeria, officially the Republic of Emmeria,[a] is the largest country on the continent of Anea. It is neighboured to the east by the Federal Republic of Estovakia and to the northwest by the Kingdom of Nordennavic.[2] The Fuscum Sea separates Emmeria from the Union of Yuktobanian Republics, located on the Verusan continent just south of Anea.[3]
Emmeria is a relatively large nation that is home to a thriving population. Citizens of the capital city Gracemeria, enjoy prosperous, peaceful everyday lives.[1] The country possesses a modestly-sized and highly-skilled military which is considered to be one of the most capable forces in the world.[4]
A key factor in Emmeria's economic prosperity was its many industries. Large-scale oil pipelines in the Kijera Oil Fields, prosperous textile manufacturing in Ortara, and large industrial zones in Tarvo. Many ports also dotted the coastline of the nation, indicating that trade was very prominent.[1]
As a result of its economic prowess, Emmeria was able to send aid to Estovakia following the impact of the Ulysses 1994XF04 asteroid,[5] which devastated the latter's economy and infrastructure.[6]
Emmeria is the player character's homeland and the setting for the majority of the missions in Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation.[2]
History
Medieval times (1400s)

The Republic of Emmeria was preceded by a kingdom in medieval times. In the 15th century, the region that would become Gracemeria was home to extremely fertile soil, and due to this, became the focus of infighting among vassals seeking control of the land. The conflict caused the collapse of order, and led to a series of foreign invasions.[7]
King Aurelius II, the founder of modern Emmeria, rose to power in the middle of the turmoil, vying to bring an end to the invasions. He succeeded in convincing the vassals to stop fighting, bringing peace to the land and permanently halting the foreigners' attacks. Sometime afterward, the kingdom of Emmeria declared itself a republic, with Aurelius at the helm. The capital of the new republic was moved to Gracemeria.[7]
Modern times (1999—)
Throughout the centuries, the Republic of Emmeria would become one of the leading nations on Anea. In 1999, it became one of the countries affected by the Ulysses 1994XF04 planetfall.[6]

Due to belated news regarding the asteroid's increased impact radius, Emmeria opted to take a more defensive strategy in protecting itself against Ulysses. Preparations for the planetfall were carried out across the nation, mobilizing numerous aircraft to transport refugees to underground shelters being built in Gracemeria. On July 3, 1999, the asteroid entered the Earth's atmosphere and shattered into thousands of fragments that impacted the northern hemisphere.[7]
The impacts saw the collapse of Emmeria's trade routes and economy, along with the loss of cities and ports in its western areas. Despite this, the country was able to recover relatively quickly.[7]
Era of peace (2000—2015)
Following the Ulysses 1994XF04 planetfall, Emmeria began the Emmerian-Estovakian Reconstruction Effort to aid Estovakia recover from the impact. Around this time, the Emmerian Ministry of Science and Technology began showing concern regarding Chandelier's potential for war, prompting multiple nations to prohibit any further development.[8]
In 2004, the Republic of Anea Initiative was founded, this movement would aim to merge all of the Anean countries into a single nation. The Preparatory Agency for the Republic of Anea would be founded to carry out the initiative.[5] That same year, the Preparatory Agency declared the Emmerian city of Mante as the capital of the Republic of Anea.[3]
In 2008, representatives for the Republic of Anea attended the G7 Summit aboard the Arkbird.[9] It is presumed that representatives from each Anean nation attended the event.
Estovakian Civil War (2007—2013)
Plans for the Republic of Anea were halted in 2008 after the Estovakian Civil War broke out.[5] Emmeria, still wishing to help Estovakia recover, contacted the Lyes United Front (LUF): one of the factions vying for control of the country. They came to an agreement and Emmeria began sending aid to the LUF, believing it would help end the civil war. However, the LUF was using Emmerian aid to fuel its war machine, and as a result, Emmeria stopped its aid program in 2011. As the civil war came to a close in 2013 with an Eastern Faction victory, a military regime led by The Generals established a new government within Estovakia.[6]

Under this new government, many Estovakians would come to resent Emmeria as they funded the LUF and were partially responsible for the civil war. By 2013, the Republic of Anea was dissolved and the Anean nations returned to being separate.[10]
This growing resentment would greatly aid The Generals in convincing the citizens of Estovakia to go to war with Emmeria.
Escalation (2014—2015)
Following the Estovakian Civil War, Emmeria continued sending aid to Estovakia. In February 2014, a storage facility in Vistoc under the protection of the Emmerian Reconstruction Assistance Force was attacked by former LUF members, resulting in a large number of supplies being lost. Reinforcements were deployed and news of the attack quickly spread throughout Emmeria.[5]
In response to the attack, the Conference on Reconstruction Assistance to Estovakia was held. During which, it was announced that the aid program halted in 2011, would be restarted. Following the announcement, Estovakian representatives questioned Emmeria's previous support of the LUF, blaming them for the civil war and furthering misgivings between the two nations.[5]
Emmeria-Estovakia War (2015—2016)
On August 30, 2015, Estovakia launched a surprise attack on Gracemeria, utilizing its P-1112 Aigaion to overwhelm Emmerian forces, forcing them to retreat west across Anea.[10] Following the loss of their capital, the Emmerian military carried out multiple recapture operations to no avail due to combined efforts of the elite Strigon Team, P-1112 Aigaion and South Sea Fleet.[11] Estovakia would see continual victories, successfully conquering San Loma[12] and ultimately driving Emmerian forces to Khesed Island.[6]

In late 2015, the Emmerian military began securing minor victories, resulting in Estovakian forces being driven off of Khesed Island.[13] Emmeria now began plans for a recapture of lost Emmerian territory. In January 2016, Emmerian forces carried out an amphibious assault on the mainland, defeating a large Estovakian force and securing a foothold on Anea.[14]
As the Emmerians continued pushing east, Estovakia once again utilized its P-1112 Aigaion to slow their advance.[15] In February 2016, the Republic of Emmeria Air Force ambushed and destroyed the Aerial Fleet, ending the Nimbus missile threat and throwing Estovakia on the backfoot.[16]
Over the next few months, Emmerian forces would see further victories, pushing ever closer to Gracemeria.[17] On March 31, 2016, Emmerian forces launched Operation Free Gracemeria and successfully reclaimed their capital city.[18] That evening, Estovakia utilized Chandelier to launch a retaliatory strike against Gracemeria.[19] The following day, multiple Emmerian squadrons would attack and destroy Chandelier, killing General Gustav Dvornik in the process.[20]
In May, a cease-fire agreement was signed between Emmeria's Joint Chiefs of Staff and Estovakia's new government. The agreement ended the Emmeria-Estovakia War and re-established peaceful relations between the two nations.[21]
Postwar (2016—)

Culture
Emmerian culture is reminiscent of those found in Europe. It features historical structures such as Gracemeria Castle which itself is very similar to those found in many European countries.[23]
Various names of locations are European sounding: Gracemeria, Sipli, Silvat, and Emmeria sound Eastern European, while Vitoze, Campagna, San Loma, Marcello, and Bartolomeo sound Italian. There are also miscellaneous names such as Ragno and Grageo. The people of Emmeria are mainly Caucasian and speak with American and occasionally British accents.[17]
If the Osean Federation is based on the United States of America, then the Republic of Emmeria appears to be a combination of the United Kingdom (Great Britain), France, and Canada.

Emmeria is the largest nation on the Anean continent and therefore encompasses the majority of its land. Emmeria is home to a multitude of biomes, ranging from cold snowy mountainous regions to expansive desert regions. Emmeria also controls a number of islands, most notably, Khesed Island.
The majority of Emmeria is surrounded by water, the Arctic Ocean to the north and the Fuscum Sea to the south. It also shares borders with Estovakia to the east and Nordennavic to the northwest.
Politics
Government
Emmeria is a republic with its central government and political council headed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff.[10] The government is also sub-divided into many departments and ministries including the Department of National Safety, in charge of intelligence and security,[24] and the Emmerian Ministry of Science and Technology, which oversees all scientific and technological activities within the nation.[8]
There is also a royal family present within the nation, however, their influence is less prominent.[5]
Military
Emmeria supports a modestly-sized military mainly for defensive purposes. The Emmerian military is considered one of the most capable forces in the world[4] and is comprised of the Republic of Emmeria Air Force, the Republic of Emmeria Army (which supports a special forces division), and the Republic of Emmeria Navy (which supports a marine division).[25]
Economy
Emmeria's economy appears to be thriving, evident in how quickly they recovered following the Ulysses 1994XF04 planetfall and the aid they provided to Estovakia despite the recent impact.[5]
