Revision as of 20:24, 25 November 2019

For the other military branch known as "EAF", see Estovakian Air Force.
For the other military that uses "FEAF", see Free Erusea.

The Erusean Air Force[1] (EAF)[2] is the aerial warfare branch of Erusea's military.

Formerly known as the Federal Erusea Air Force[3][4] (FEAF),[note 1] it was responsible for much of Erusea's dominance during the Continental War, especially with its elite Yellow Squadron[5] and using Stonehenge as an anti-aircraft weapon.[6]

The loss of Yellow Squadron, Stonehenge, and numerous other pilots during the Continental War dealt heavy blows to the Air Force. With the restoration of the Erusean kingdom by 2019, Erusea restored the EAF's combat effectiveness, bolstering it with the addition of drone technology. The EAF also worked with the Erusean Air and Space Administration to bring test pilots into its ranks, including Sol Squadron. The improved Erusean Air Force played a large role in the Lighthouse War.

History

FEAF

Five Yellow Squadron aircraft

Though the full extent of its involvement is unknown, the FEAF was involved in the Usean coup d'état as a member of the Usean Allied Forces. Some Erusean pilots defected to the Usean Rebel Forces, including Albireo Squadron.[7]

The FEAF played a major role in the Continental War from its beginning, opening the war with aerial bombing runs on San Salvacion.[8] Yellow Squadron and Stonehenge were key components of Erusea's air superiority during the war—so much so that Yellow 13 scored over 60 kills on ISAF pilots in the first year[5]—but the FEAF was comprised of many more fighter squadrons,[9] bombers,[6][9][10] and other specialized aircraft, including jammers.[11][12]

In the second and final year of the war, the ISAF Air Force began to push back the FEAF in various operations while taking back portions of the continent. A large-scale battle between both air forces occurred during Operation Countdown over the Comona Islands; despite Yellow Squadron supporting Erusea's forces, the ISAF's pilots were victorious.[9] Mobius 1 single-handedly destroyed Stonehenge and shot down Yellow 4 in April 2005, dealing a heavy blow to Erusea's air superiority for the rest of the war.[13] The final blow was dealt during the ISAF's Operation Autumn Thunder when Mobius 1 shot down all of Yellow Squadron and the Continental War officially concluded.[14]

Many young Erusean officers continued to fight on after the end of the war. A group of 15 pilots attempted to defend Megalith a week after the war ended, but Mobius 1 destroyed the facility.[15] Several other members of the military started the Free Erusea terrorist group, initiating the 2006 Free Erusea uprising. Mobius 1 quelled this rebellion as well, further reducing Erusea's air power.[16]

By the 2010s, Erusea restored its monarchy and reorganized its military forces. The air force dropped the word "Federal" from its title, becoming simply the Erusean Air Force.[17] Some members of the reformed EAF, including Ghost Squadron, continued to act with radical intents, leading into the 2014 Free Erusea uprising.[18] Erusea's radical element persisted and played a large role in starting the Lighthouse War.[19]

During the war, Erusea's offensive and defensive air power was heavily supplemented by drones, both remotely and from the Arsenal Birds. Conventional aircraft were still widely used, particularly for bombing missions. The EAF's drone network was so extensive and effective, Osea's attempts to attack from the East were next to impossible.
