The F-14D -ZIPANG- is a downloadable paint scheme in Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation. It was released with Pack #06 in March 23th 2008, costing ¤200 MSP to download; however, the aircraft later became free on June 11.
Overview
Part of the Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War aircraft series, this F-14D Super Tomcat variant homages Zipang, an ace of the Yuktobanian Air Force encountered in mission #03, "Narrow Margin", who flew one such aircraft in combat. Zipang became popular thanks to his unique paint scheme of choice, which combines a purple paintjob with Japanese sakura (cherry blossom) art.
The ZIPANG F-14D differs from the original version in that it is mostly centered on maneuverability and flight stability. Both parameters have been upgraded, in exchange for a reduction in speed, air-to-air/ground and armor The aircraft's weapon capacity has been generally reduced as well. its missile trails are purple.
