The F-1 Kaizen is a native Japanese ground attack aircraft.

Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War

"A variant of a training aircraft, this attack aircraft was developed as an air-to-ground and air-to-ship fighter. Its outdated design lags behind that of current fighter aircraft."
― Hangar menu description.

The F-1 is an starting level aircraft in Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. It is used by the Belkan Air Force in the missions "Annex", "Juggernaut" and "Merlon", being used by ace pilots in all three levels.

It is one of the first the available aircraft at the start of the campaign, along with the F-5E Tiger II and the J35J Draken, and the first available Attacker. As the description implies, the F-1 has all-round poor statistics. Airspeed and armor are low, as is stability. To add to this, it has the lowest air-to-air parameter of any aircraft in the game, making it a poor choice for dogfighting. Air-to-ground is slightly higher than most parameters, but still remains low.

The Kaizen is armed with a JM61A1 machine gun and 56 missiles. Its special weapons repertoire is centered on ground weaponry, and includes the Rocket Launcher, Unguided Bomb and Long Range Air-to-Ship Missile.

Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception

In Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception, the F-1 is a low-end Attacker aircraft. In the main campaign, a single aircraft is flown by an ace pilot in mission #3B, "Captive City". Outside that mission, it is not seen anywhere else in the game.

In performance, it is generally similar to its original Zero incarnation. It has weak engines, thin armor and relatively low mobility, making it a somewhat unfavorable aircraft to use. As well, air to air and air to ground capabilities are low, though they do not render the aircraft unable to fight. On the upside, it has high stability.

The F-1 retains the same armament options from Ace Combat Zero. However, the Unguided Bomb has been replaced with the Unguided Bomb (Large) counterpart.
