The F-20A Tigershark is an experimental variant of the F-5E Tiger II.

History

Strangereal

In the Strangereal world, the F-20 was produced in limited quantities during the late 20th century as an advanced replacement of the F-5E, being known to have been adopted by the air forces of Belka and Yuktobania. During the Belkan War, Tigersharks were flown by small number of Belkan Air Force pilots, many of which were shot down in combat during the conflict, including the Vampir Squadron and Henrich "Anwalt" Koenig, who disappeared after the surrender of Belka and joined the Falcons of Dawn terror group. Airframes were obtained by Ustio after its separation from Belka, which were utilized by the Galm Team during the war.

In late 2010, Tigersharks were also deployed in limited number by Yuktobania in the Circum-Pacific War during the Osean Federation's invasion of the Union mainland.

Infinity universe

In the Infinity universe, the design of the F-20A was acquired by Wernher and Noah Enterprises after the collapse of the global military industry from the Ulysses Disaster. The aircraft was included in the repertoire of the Advanced Automated Aviation Plant systems in late 2019 or mid-2020 during the USEA Federation's insurrection for United Nations Independent Commando Services aircrewmen to purchase and operate.

Ace Combat Infinity

Description

"A fighter that was developed to be the successor to the F-5E. Its twin engines have been replaced with a single engine and the design of the aircraft has been modified resulting in a huge increase in performance. Aircraft startup time has been greatly reduced. This allows the aircraft to scramble in a short amount of time, surpassing any other aircraft within the same generation. Despite it being an old generation fighter, it features extremely high maneuverability and excellent handling. Its nickname is "Tigershark". "

• In Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, the F-20A's Knight color references the F-20A used by Shin Kazama, the main character of Area 88. The Zero scheme was then slightly adjusted for the F-20A -Shin Kazama- Special Aircraft in Ace Combat Infinity.
