Strangereal

In the Strangereal world, the F-4E was employed as a carrier-based fighter by several militaries, including the Independent States Allied Forces and the Aurelian Navy. Other countries, such as Belka and the Osean Federation, fielded them instead as conventional air force aircraft.

During the Emmeria-Estovakia War, F-4Es were deployed in a limited manner by the Estovakian and Emmerian Air Forces.[1][2] During the Invasion of Gracemeria, an Esotvakian F-4E fired the missile which destroyed the King's Bridge.[1] In the final battle of the war, General Gustav Dvornik's squadron also utilized the aircraft when they fled the Chandelier. However, Dvornik was shot down by Talisman shortly after takeoff.[3]

F-4Es continued to be fielded in the Lighthouse War. A number of F-4Es were operated by the Erusean Air Force, mostly during the opening part of the war. During Operation Sighthound, the Glamrock Squadron utilized the aircraft in efforts to prevent the capture of the super-submarine Alicorn by Osean forces.[4]

Joint Assault universe

Drone F-4Es were used by Martinez Security and the United States Navy for aerial combat practice, and the former had the regular aircraft in their inventory. The Valahia used the F-4E extensively during their attacks against Japan in the opening days of the Valahia Crisis, but retired them shortly thereafter.

Infinity universe

The Phantom saw extremely limited use in the USEA Federation. A few units were seen in action over Tokyo, but most if not all units were shot down by the UNF.

As for the UNF, the F-4E was a very popular aircraft for starters, being one of the most flown aircraft during Operation Eternal Liberation.

Game Analysis

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown

"A large carrier-based fighter, designed as an interceptor. While numerous variants exist, the E-model was the one adopted by the air force. Based on craft designs of its time, it was developed as a fighter with standard missiles, and later reworked to incorporate machineguns—a stable of the E-model—based on feedback from sorties. Nowadays, it is an old-fashioned but classic fighter. It holds a number of flight records that are still impressive today. Adopted by numerous countries around the world, it is one of the best-selling jet fighters. Its global popularity means that it has numerous nicknames in addition to "Phantom II"."

"General purpose, extra large, carrier-based fighter. Though turning performance can be a bit problematic because of the large size of the aircraft, it boasts top class speed performance among the older generation model aircraft, a high level of durability, and has a large amount of space for armaments. Called the "Phantom II", it is the first aircraft shared by three branches of the U.S. Armed Forces: the Navy, Marines, and Air Force."

Trivia

  • In various games in the series, the F-4E is incorrectly depicted and described as a carrier-based aircraft.
    • Interestingly, Ace Combat 5 corrects this error, but recurs in subsequent games.
  • The ISAF colour scheme in AC04 and the Standard paint scheme in ACZ are based on the color scheme of the Royal Navy Phantom FG1 (F-4K).
  • The Erusean color scheme in AC04 and AC7, Dryade's paint scheme in ACZ, Manta's paint scheme in ACX, Color 2 in ACJA, Estovakia SP colour scheme in AC6 are based on the color scheme of the German RF-4E (reconnaissance variant of F-4E).
  • The Erusean color scheme in AC7 is based on an F-4G Phantom II "Wild Weasel" model kit released by Revell. It is in 1/32 scale and the aircraft has an identical color scheme.
  • The YK color scheme in AC5, Lanze's paint scheme in ACZ, Leasath's paint scheme in ACX, Color 3 in ACJA, and the Special Skin in AC7, is the color scheme of the Japanese F-4EJ Kai.
    • Strangely in Skies of Deception, the paint scheme features Blaze's number 016 on the nose of the aircraft, but only on the right side.
  • A promotional image developed from Assault Horizon was designed for the "Nyutabaru Air Festa" in 2011, featuring an F-4E in the livery of the JASDF 5th Air Wing stationed at Nyutabaru Air Base flying alongside an ASF-X Shinden II. The image was printed on stickers for event attendees to take home.[6] The skin was not made available in the actual game.
