F/A-18F Super Hornet Block III

The F/A-18F Super Hornet Block III is an improved variant of the F/A-18F Super Hornet featuring conformal fuel tanks, weapon pods, an updated cockpit, and infrared sensors.

The Block III debuted in the Ace Combat franchise as downloadable content for Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. It was initially teased at the end of the trailer for the JASDF Skin Series^[1] before officially releasing as part of the Cutting-edge Aircraft Series Set.^[2]

"A modernized carrier-based fighter modeled after the F/A-18. Its versatility makes it great for anti-surface and anti-ship attacks, as well as for air support. It has been retrofitted with an enhanced turbo engine for improved acceleration and top speeds, and the conformal tank fitted to the top of the body greatly extends its flight distance. On the underside of the craft's body are enclosed weapon pods, which allow an increased armament payload through internal storage of weaponry, and its stealth capabilities and performance in protracted battles have been improved. Its updated data link system has improved its avionics and versatility compared to earlier models."
