The Quick Maneuver Air-to-Air Missile, or QAAM in short, is a short-range all-aspect missile present as a special weapon starting from Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies. It has similar range with standard missiles, but the difference is that the QAAM has better agility, in which that if it misses the target, the missile will turn around in an attempt to chase the target again until it runs out of fuel, and it has double the damage of standard missiles, in which that they can one-shot most enemy aircraft if it hits. The incarnation in Ace Combat 04 was notorious for its very deadly accuracy, in which that about 9 out of 10 launches, the missile will always destroy the target. Starting from Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War, the missile's performance was subsequently toned down, however it got a re-buff for Ace Combat: Assault Horizon.

It is based on AIM-9X for NATO aircraft, AAM-5 for Japanese aircraft, and the Vympel R-73 (AA-11 Archer) for Russian aircraft.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon[]

This weapon is available for fighter and multirole aircraft. This weapon is first officially available on the F-16C/F, after completing mission 2. The QAAM has received an overhaul, making it more powerful than the one in last three games, making it similar to its destructive power in Ace Combat 04.

Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation[]

"The most agile of all missiles, the QAAM boasts a tracking time and guidance system far exceeding that of standard missiles. Once it has acquired a lock-on, it will continue to track the target even at the firing aircraft's six o' clock, making this the ultimate in dogfight missiles. A helmet mounted reticule allows the QAAM to be lock-on to a target outside of the aircraft's flight trajectory."
