Ghosts of Razgriz is a mission in Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War.
Plot
The OFS Kestrel intercepts an encrypted transmission indicating a location in Yuktobania, and the Razgriz Squadron is dispatched to the Payavlenie Ravine to acquire data from a radio frequency described in the message. Flying low to avoid the local air defense system, the team arrives to the ravine as Yuktobanian troops raid the hideout of an anti-government movement disassembling a nuclear weapon.
A student involved in the group, Alyosha, contacts the squadron and requests them to provide cover while they disarm the nuke. The team takes out various ships and helicopters searching for the resistance, but the mission takes an unexpected turn as the Ofnir Squadron, still under the guise of Yuke pilots, joins the battle. The aggressors are shot down and the resistance members escape their base with a submarine to discard the disassembled nuke, and Alyosha relays a message to Razgriz, hinting at Jack Bartlett's survival.
Trivia
- In pre-release screenshots, the mission would have involved Yuktobanian F-15Cs and Mirage aircraft with Belkan Air Force markings. The final version omits these planes and uses Typhoons in their stead.
- With a sufficiently fast aircraft, it is possible to fly above the ravine and outrun the missiles fired by the anti-air system. A MiG-31 Foxhound is the best plane for this task.
