- "Let Golem and Mage Squadrons handle it. They'll pull through."
- ― Gargoyle Squadron pilot[1]
Golem Squadron, officially the 506th Fighter Attack Squadron, was an Osean Air Defense Force squadron assigned to the International Union Peacekeeping Force.[2]
History[]
During the Lighthouse War, Golem Squadron's first known deployment was Operation Deer Horn on May 15, 2019, where they shot down Erusean Air Force bombers attempting to level the Fort Grays Air Base together with Mage Squadron.[3] Two days later, Golem and Mage Squadrons were deployed to Scofields Plateau to halt the Erusean advance, shooting down multiple MQ-99s that subsequently launched.[4]
On May 30, 2019, Golem Squadron participated in Operation Dual Wielder, where they engaged Erusean Air Force squadrons over the Chopinburg Rainforest. During the operation, an Arsenal Bird entered the airspace. Outgunned, allied squadrons were ordered to retreat while Golem and Mage squadrons provided cover. Brownie was hit during the engagement, and was ordered to retreat. She was later shot down and killed by an unknown pilot while attempting to leave the airspace.[1] She was later replaced by Faun.[5]
The squadron's last known deployment in the war was Operation Lighthouse Keeper on June 6, 2019, where they entered the airspace once Trigger bypassed the radar network surrounding the International Space Elevator. They assisted in shooting down several drones attacking former president Vincent Harling's transport, and later retreated once the Arsenal Bird Liberty entered the airspace.[5]
