The castle was home to various relics and artifacts from Emmerian history, including the "Golden King" statue made by Aurelius' followers before the nation transitioned into a republic.
Gracemeria Castle was constructed in the 15th century, during Emmeria's prosperous royalistic era.
Ulysses Impact Event
In 1998, following the news of the Ulysses 1994XF04 asteroid's hollow interior and consequential increased impact radius, Lord Alberto Lawrence suggested the construction of underground shelters underneath the castle. Underground structures were built by general contractors, and when completed, could house up to 15,000 refugees.
During the Emmeria-Estovakia War, the castle was robbed of its antiquities and its "Golden King" statue taking underground by Emmerian children. Many children including Matilda Herman and "Radio" took refuge below in the catacombs built to shelter refugees from the Ulysses 1994XF04 planetfall.
Following Operation Free Gracemeria, Serval, while attempting to rob Gracemeria Central Bank, unintentionally blasted a hole in the catacombs below Gracemeria Castle and discovered the "Golden King" statue alongside the children and Victor Voychek.
