"Hornets! Don't let them sting you in the ass!"
Larry Foulke commenting on the Grun Squadron.

Grun Team, officially the 8th Tactical Fighter Squadron, was an elite unit of the Belkan Air Force that operated during the Belkan War. Their combat style was flexible and its pilots specialized in strategically monitoring their enemy's movements in order to defeat them.

History[]

Traditionally, the Belkan Air Force maintained strict discipline throughout their ranks. Despite this, the Grun Team formed a reputation of rowdy rule-breakers under their leader, Bernhard Schmidt. Their unique attitude made them a special unit within the Air Force, which usually did not tolerate a lack of discipline. However, Grun Team gained a formidable combat record of their own, and were remarkable for their ability to adapt to the tide of battle and adjust their strategies accordingly.

However, one month into the Belkan War, a mission took them to Airspace B7R on an intercept mission due to the intrusion of the Ustian Air Force's Galm Team. After monitoring the their combat capabilities, the Grun Squadron engaged the mercenary pilots. However, in the ensuing dogfight, the squadron's members were all shot down.

Schmidt, the only survivor, would later return to the front lines and continue fighting, but after the war ended, he left the Air Force and returned to his home town of Sudentor. Grun Team was disbanded in the aftermath of the war, as the Belkan military was dismantled.
