Invincible Fleet is the sixth campaign mission of Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies. This is mainly an air-to-ground mission, as the player is tasked with destroying the large force of warships and vessels known as the Aegir Fleet.

Briefing

We will launch a surprise attack on the Aegir Fleet while it lies immobilized at Comberth Harbor. This large-scale air strike[sic] will be the largest and the most strategic operation since the transfer of HQ to North Point. You may need to resupply along the way because this operation will be long in duration. Remember, it is imperative that you complete the mission objective and return to base safely.

Objectives

The goal of this mission is to cause major damage to the Aegir Fleet while it is stationed at harbor. The player must score a minimum of 3,000 points in the fifteen minutes of allotted time and continue to destroy enemy forces until the time runs out.

There are four combat areas the player can attack, and at least two of them must be attacked in order to attain the necessary 3,000 points. The player must choose which areas to focus on: the fleet of ships leaving the harbor, Comberth Harbor, New Comberth Harbor, and the submarine base. Each area has a varying number of warships, as well as anti-aircraft defenses, harbor facilities, and hostile bandits flying top cover. Any and all units are free to be engaged.

S Rank

An S rank is achieved on this mission by scoring more than 5,000 points within the time limit. The minimum amount of points necessary for mission completion earns the player a C rank.

Named Units

  • F-14 Levy — Located north of New Comberth Harbor, the northernmost position on the map (only under SP New Game → Normal or harder)

Debriefing

The Erusians' so-called "invincible fleet" has been destroyed. Their plans for invading North Point have been delayed indefinitely. Although we are still far from triumphant, this victory gave our troops a much-needed boost in morale.

Trivia

  • Upon mission completion, the player can hear cheers and celebration over the radio in the background; afterward, a short cutscene plays that shows the ISAF aircraft flying over the harbor in victory, while a chorus of pilots sings the USEA National Anthem -Hymn of Liberty-.
  • Prior to the release of AC04, a pair of towers were present in the vicinity of the Tanager, which would become covered by the battleship's smoke after being sunk. The September 11 attacks forced Project Aces to remove both towers from the final product immediately before the release of the game, as the development team thought the imagery was too similar to the burning World Trade Center towers.[1][2]
