Kingdom of Erusea "Rose" Emblem

The "Rose" emblem of the Erusean monarchy

King of Erusea was the title given to the ruler of the Kingdom of Erusea prior to the deposition and following the reinstatement of the monarchy. The first to assume the title following the nation's transition back into a kingdom was the cousin of Rosa Cossette D'Elise's father.[1]

Only male members of the Erusean Royal Family are able to assume the title, as Erusea does not currently recognise female heads of state.[2]

History[]

In the 1900s, the Erusean kingdom annexed the Grand Duchy of Shilage after a revolution deposed the latter's royal family. The Erusean king at the time restored the titles of Shilage's former royal family, presumably exempting them from military service. However, one member of the family, Mihaly A. Shilage, allowed himself to be conscripted like a regular Erusean citizen, leading the King to order that he be accepted into the Erusean Air Force. Sometime afterward, the Erusean monarchy was deposed and the nation became a federal republic.[3]

Following the Federal Republic of Erusea's defeat in the Continental War at the hands of the Independent State Allied Forces in 2005, Erusea was placed under the control of a provisional government. Sometime after the 2008 G7 Summit aboard the Arkbird, the provisional government restored the Erusean monarchy that had existed prior to the 1990s.[4]

The cousin of Rosa Cossette D'Elise's father became the first Erusean monarch in over a decade, ascending all his family to royalty status.[1] Despite this, the Erusean public generally looked down on the Royal Family as they were former commoners.[5] When the King fell ill and passed away, he was succeeded by his brother.[1]

In 2011, the new King and his entire family died in a car accident, leading to Cossette's father ascending to the throne, making Cossette the new Princess of Erusea.[1] It was said by Cossette that her father was never really suited to be a monarch.[6]

In 2019, radical factions within the Erusean military managed to convince the King of Erusea and the Erusean Royal Family that the construction of the International Space Elevator in Gunther Bay violated Erusea's sovereignty and that the Osean Federation intended to use it to expand their influence on the Usean continent.[7] This led the King to sanction the declaration of war against Osea and all Usean countries hosting IUN Peacekeeping Force units, sparking the Lighthouse War in May.[8] During Osea's third attack on the Erusean capital of Farbanti, Cossette's father was killed, leaving her as the only living legitimate heir to the throne.[6]

Following the Lighthouse War's conclusion, the majority of the Erusean public was in favour of Princess Cossette becoming the next monarch, however, as Erusea does not recognise female heads of state, the selection of the next King became a pressing issue for the nation.[2]
