"Talisman, I know I've been a pain in the butt, and I want to thank you for all you've done. I-I don't know how to say this, but... you're like a part of my family."
― Marcus Lampert to Talisman[1]

Marcus Lampert  (マーカス·ランパート Mākasu Ranpāto),[2] callsign Shamrock (シャムロック Shamurokku),[2] is a Republic of Emmeria Air Force pilot, member of the nascent Garuda Team, as "Garuda 2".

Lampert's heroic actions during the Emmeria-Estovakia War resulted in him being heralded as an ace and an Emmerian hero, alongside his squadron leader Talisman. Following the war, stories of his actions throughout the war were shared amongst many people.[3]

Biography

Marcus Lampert resided in Gracemeria and had a family which he cared for dearly.[4]

Prior to the late August 2015, Lampert was the sole member of his squadron. During the Invasion of Gracemeria, he was reassigned to Garuda Team, where he would fly as Talisman's wingman. Later during the battle, he was forced to abandon city and his family.[5] Along with a majority of the Emmerian forces, he retreated to Khesed Island.[6]

As Talisman's wingman, Garuda Team would play a key role in the operations to retake Khesed Island.[7] Shamrock would do anything to get back to Gracemeria and free his people, even disobeying a direct cease-fire order and continuing to dogfight several members of the Strigon Team.[8] As a result, Garuda Team was suspended from active duty until the plan to destroy the Estovakian WMD catalyst.[9]

Following Operation Free Gracemeria, he learns that his wife and daughter died during the war,[1] cursing himself for being unable to protect them and as a result, vows to turn in his wings once the patrol is over.[4]

Shamrock Losing Thrust

However, due to the new threat in the Estovakian Chandelier railgun, Shamrock remained on active duty. During the assault on the Chandelier, he single-handedly flies into a heavily defended trench in order to retrieve data for AWACS Ghost Eye. This stunt resulted in him being shot down. He tries to keep the plane steady but the damage is too great, forcing him to eject just before impact.[10] He was later picked up by an Emmerian team.[11]

The injuries he sustains during his ejection temporarily confine him to a wheelchair. He then visits the people he heard on the radio during his previous mission, Melissa Herman and her daughter. While enjoying the company, seeing the happiness of the children around him, he looks at the restored King's Bridge as he reminisces about his journey with Talisman.[12]
