Marcus Snow (マーカススノー Mākasu Sunō) was a pilot of the Osean Maritime Defense Force and the leader of the Shorebirds Squadron, stationed on the aircraft carrier OFS Kestrel. [1]

Biography

Snow served in the Osean military for a great number of years, possibly even as far back as the Belkan War, eventually being assigned to the OFS Kestrel of the 3rd Osean Naval Fleet and being promoted to Captain. After his promotion, he was placed in charge of the Shorebirds as the CAG (Commander Air Group) of the Kestrel.

During the defense of Port St. Hewlett at the beginning of the Circum-Pacific War, Snow fought the inavding Yuktobanian Forces along with Wardog Squadron, then unofficially became the commander of the air defense effort after the fleet escaped the port. [2]

After the attack, the 3rd Naval Fleet escaped the port and proceeded to rendezvous with the OFS Vulture and OFS Buzzard at the Eaglin Straits. During the rendezvous, Snow and Wardog protected the carriers until they were destroyed by burst missiles from the Yuktobanian Scinfaxi-class submarine Scinfaxi. [3] After the battle, he continued to fight on various battlefields with his unit.

On December 7th, 2010, Snow was ordered by Captain Nicholas A. Andersen, who knew of the Belkan Gray Men's plots, to rescue Wardog, who were framed of being spies. After flying past them, Snow sent Wardog a message using signal code, telling them to trust him and bail out while he shot down their planes, thus Wardog's former AWACS Thunderhead, pursuing Grabacr Squadron and Sand Island's base adjutant Major Allen C. Hamilton, the latter who framed Wardog as spies, believed the squadron to be shot down & killed. [4]

Two days later, after he became part of Wardog and together rescued President Vincent Harling from Belkan captivity, the squadron re-named itself the Razgriz Squadron, also known as the “Ghosts of Razgriz” as pilot #3 under direct command of President Harling. [5] Blaze, Razgriz flight lead, then carried out a reconnaissance mission at Mount Schirm to confirm the location of V2 nuclear weapons. He was intercepted, only to be rescued by his wingmen. [6] Afterwards, Snow & the squadron destroyed the entrance to the V2's inside Mount Schirm, sealing them off, only to discover three already relocated nuclear weapons. [7]

The Yuktobanian resistance secured one V2 and dismantled it in their Payavlenie Ravine hideout under protection of Razgriz, who took out Yuktobanian search troops including Varyag Special Forces and Ofnir Squadron, the latter ejecting after shot down, searching for the weapon, Snow being nervous on the resistance's progress. [8]

Later on, the Razgriz attacked the Arkbird hijacked by Belkan operatives, sending it into the Ceres Ocean before it could use the second V2 on Okchabursk. [9] Soon after, an encrypted message came in from former Captain Jack Bartlett. He and the resistance rescued Yuktobanian Prime Minister Seryozha Viktorovich Nikanor. The Razgriz were dispatched to cover their escape, and they shot down the Grabacr Squadron, though they ejected. [10]

After fighting off warmongering Osean and Yuktobanian naval units during Operation Glory Horn and the sinking of the Kestrel due to an enemy submarine, [11] Harling and Nikanor held a live TV speech in Bright Hill, Oured to proclaim the end of the war and instruct their militaries to help the Razgriz as they were on the way to Gründer Industries's headquarters at Sudentor to take out the control devices of the SOLG. [12] Aided by a coalition of Osean and Yuktobanian Forces, the whole squadron with the aid of Bartlett managed to destroy the core components inside a tunnel, also killing Hamilton, who pursued the Razgriz. [12] Hours later, the SOLG was descending onto Oured. The Razgriz took off to their final sortie, engaging Grabacr and Ofnir as they made their last stand for Belka, only to be shot down and killed. The SOLG was intercepted by the Razgriz afterwards and destroyed before it could crash on the ground and release the last remaining V2. [13]

After the end of the war, Snow and the other squadron members disappeared from the skies. [14]

Trivia

  • Although Snow is higher ranked than the rest of the squadron, since a Captain of the Navy is equivalent to an Air Force Colonel, he kept the position of Razgriz Three through the squadron's existence.
    • The reason is a translation error in the English version. In the Japanese version, his rank is Tai-ai, translating to Naval Lieutenant, equivalent to Air Force Captain.
  • Snow sounds similar to Osean Air Defense Force pilot Anthony Palmer in the English version of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, due to sharing the same voice actor.
