Memory Error is the 37th mission in the Japanese version of Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere and the fourth mission in the Ouroboros (I) arc.

Plot

After the events of the last mission, Dision turns on Nemo after the latter makes Rena suffer a "memory error". However, Keith suddenly turns up, and buddies reunite to battle against Rena and Dision.

After a short skirmish, Rena suffers another memory error. Keith attempts to shoot her down, but winds up crashing into her aircraft, lodging his plane into her wings. He pitifully laughs at the scenario, before yelling at Nemo to shoot them both down. Nemo quickly complies, taking Rena down at the cost of Keith's life. Afterwards, Nemo destroys the Ouroboros HQ, the UI-4053 Sphyrna, at last.

Objectives

The player's original objective is to shoot down the X-49. When it is hit enough times, Keith crashes into the X-49 and the player's new objective is to shoot down Keith and Rena with it. The final objective is to shoot down the UI-4053.

Abyssal Dision: Rena! You erased her m-memories of me, didn't you?!

(Suddenly, Keith Bryan flies in, flying his XFA-36A Game.)

Keith: Have you had a falling-out? Looks like I arrived at just the right time! Dision! I'll give you a chance to defeat me right here.

Dision: Keith? Don't fool yourself... get outta here! Is that really how it was? Was this your goal all along, you bastards... Why!? Who's behind this?!

Keith: You always underestimated me!

(Cutscene Ends.)

[Mission Start]

(After the X-49 takes enough hits, a cutscene starts.)

Rena Hirose: Who am I? Help me! I, long, long ago... Aaaaaaaugh!!

Keith: What a pain...! What's that...?!

Dision: Rena... dammit! Keith! You have no idea what's going on here!

Keith: I don't care anymore... You're going down, you and everything you've got!

(Keith attempts to shoot Rena down, but Rena goes crazy with her Laser Cannon and strikes him.)

Keith: Shit!

(Keith fires missiles at Rena, but misses, and winds up smashing into her plane, getting stuck in the gap in her aircraft's wings.)

Keith: Heh, hahahahaha! I up'n got stuck! Ain't that funny?! That's just like me, huh? Hey, can you hear me... buddy?! I'll let you take care of Dision. Target me! You should be able to get a lock on this monster now! Do it quickly, dammit!

(Cutscene ends.)

(Keith is shot down along with Rena.)

Keith:...Buddy. I'll seeya later.

(After the Sphyrna is shot down:)

Dision: Rena... the Night Raven... Ouroboros... Yoko. They're all...
