A two-seat supersonic long-range, all-weather interceptor, the Mikoyan MiG-31, code-named "Foxhound" by NATO is the successor to the MiG-25 Foxbat. Like its predecessor, it was initially mistaken as a super-dogfighter by western nations.

Description

Despite being labeled as an 'improved Foxbat', in reality the MiG-31 is a completely new aircraft, with greater capability than the MiG-25; although its maximum speed is reduced to keep from red lining and potentially damaging its engines. The development of the MiG-31 began in the mid-1970s and by September 16, 1975 the first prototype flew.It was initially designed to intercept the Mach 3 capable XB-70 Valkyrie and other strategic bombers before they can deliver their payload.

This is by far the fastest and hardest-accelerating aircraft in ACZ, which is well known to be fielded by the Schwarze Squadron. In AC5 there is also an advanced variant called the MiG-31M "Foxhound B", which sports slightly improved mobility, defense, and stability.

The MiG-31 is able to out accelerate most, if not all, other aircraft. In ACZ, the MiG-31 has a maximum ceiling of 9,707 metres and max speed at this altitude is around 3,046km/h. It is also ill advised to challenge a Foxhound to a head on attack.
