Gene, commenting on the approaching Mobius Squadron

The Independent State Allied Air Force 118th Tactical Fighter Wing Mobius is featured in Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies and Operation Katina[1]. Not much is known about the 118th Tactical Fighter Wing's pilot roster during the Second Usean Continental War, however, an ISAF Ace, Mobius One, is believed to be the lead pilot of the 'Mobius Squadron' at the start of the ISAF Counter-Attack.

History

Second Usean Continental War (2003-2005)

The full Mobius squadron was officially formed on September 26, 2005 before the last battle of the war: The Battle of Megalith. The Squadron was operational throughout the entire war, it's premier pilot, Mobius One, being part of the unit since their first mission on September 19, 2004.

Operation Katina (2006)

The squadron would then return to active service in 2006, when Free Erusea terrorists began a rebellion on the post-war government. Mobius One was scrambled, along with AWACS Sky Eye. It is not known if the rest of the squadron was assigned elsewhere or not, however it is interesting to note that following the war, the ISAF initiated an investigation into the extent of Mobius One's abilities and resulting in the astonishing announcement that the combat effectiveness of Mobius One was equal to that of an entire squadron.

Roster

  • Mobius 1: F-22A (Player's Choice)
  • Mobius 2: F-22A
  • Mobius 3: F-22A
  • Mobius 4: F-22A
  • Mobius 5: Rafale M
  • Mobius 6: Rafale M
  • Mobius 7: Rafale M
  • Mobius 8: Typhoon
  • Mobius 9: Typhoon
  • Mobius 13: Typhoon

Mobius One is the lead ace of the squadron, and one of the best aces in the world of Ace Combat. He near single-handedly won the war, and he is estimated to have equal the strength of a full squadron. He was the only confirmed member until the attack on Megalith.

AWACS SkyEye commonly worked with the squadron since their first official mission. Since then he had supported them directly for every operation they had ever taken on. In 2006, he and Mobius One had been dispatched to destroy Free Erusea. Since then AWACS Sky Eye has continued ISAF operations.

Trivia

  • Mobius One & the squadron both get their call sign from the Möbius strip. A Möbius Strip is a unique geometrical shape that can only exist in special circumstances. It does not exist in nature, and can only exist as a man-made thing. The unique combat record and special operations that have been attributed to Mobius One, likewise, cannot exist in nature; this lends the fitting impression that Mobius One's combat prowess is beyond any natural ability of even the best pilots in the world.
    • A Möbius Strip is characterized as being a looped ribbon arranged in such a way that it has no beginning, no ends, no "inside," and no "outside".
    • During Ace Combat 04, Mobius One was commonly referred to as "That Ribbon Fighter," to a lesser extent, "The Grim Reaper," and "The Ribbon" by the enemy.
  • The emblem of Mobius 1 can be unlocked in Ace Combat: Joint Assault by finishing 100 missions.
    • Mobius 1 appears as an enemy ace in the Ace of Aces mission.
  • In Mission 14B of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, the Belkan ace Jakob Pfeiffe, callsign "Adler", pilots an F-22A with colors of the Mobius Squadron.
