Newfield Island is an island in the continent of Usea, located between the mainland and North Point. Located on the Gulf of Saint Ark, it was home to two inhabited areas and Allenfort Air Base, a military airfield under the jurisdiction of the Independent States Allied Forces.
History
Ulysses Disaster and Anderson Crater
In July 3 of 1999, Newfield was struck by a large fragment of the Ulysses 1994XF04 asteroid. The object destroyed the inhabited area in the eastern area of the island, killing an undetermined amount of people. The impact area was named the "Anderson Crater", and became one of the most infamous Ulysses impact sites. Plans were brought up to fill the area hit by the asteroid, but they were boycotted by the Geological Survey Society group.[1]
Usean Continental War
The island later became a central part of the Usean Continental War in 2004. Allenfort Air Base became the last bastion of the Independent State Allied Forces after Erusea commenced attacks with Stonehenge. A flight of Erusean bombers from Rigley Air Base tried to destroy the airbase in September 19, but the attack was prevented by ISAF aircraft.[2]
Operation Katina
Some time after the war, reconstruction efforts began at the Anderson Crater site, with many large platforms being lined up within the water inside of the crater. In 2006, Newfield was attacked by Free Erusea, but they were driven off by Mobius One.[3]
