A document pertaining the operation.

Offensive Campaign No. 4101, also known as the Battle of Futuro Canal, was a joint assault operation conducted by the Allied Forces during the Belkan War to take back Futuro Canal.

History

Prelude

The Futuro Canal, known in the Sapin language as Canal Futuro, was captured early in the war by the Belkan Army and used as a major transport route in the Ustio front. The Osean Federation, preparing for the emancipation of the southern countries from Belka, devised a plan to expand their combat capability involving the Osean Navy's 3rd Fleet.

Osea's plan, dubbed "Offensive Campaign No. 4101", was preceded by a supportive Ustio mission to provide an opportunity for the 3rd Fleet to enter the Belkan War. On 20 April of 1995, the mercenary Galm Team was sent on a false "reconnaissance mission" in the contested Area B7R in the Ustio-Belka border to distract the Belkan Army from the fleet's activities. Operation Choker One was a success, and the fleets successfully infiltrated Belkan territory during the skirmish at B7R.

In addition to the fleet's entry to the war, the battle in B7R unexpectedly ended with the destruction of an elite Belkan Air Force unit dispatched to the border. The incident involving the squadron was covered up by Belkan military commanders, who claimed that Galm had been driven out of the border by the fallen squadron.

Attack on Futuro

The newly formed coalition between Ustio and Osea rapidly mobilized to launch an attack on the Futuro Canal. Within days of the B7R operation, Osea was prepared to launch an attack on the canal with the intent of using it as a supply route for its own forces. Futuro itself was defended by a large presence of Belkan troops, including electronic jammers and air squadrons, while the northern mouth was defended by a fleet of destroyers commanded by the aircraft carrier Njord.

On April 24, Ustio and Osean forces launched a joint attack on Futuro. The operation, "Juggernaut", was divided into three parts focused on each location of the area: Operation Gelnikos, which focused on the cleansing of the southern mouth and the canal itself; Operation Round Hammer, targeting the Njord's fleet north of the canal and Operation Costner, an aerial escort of the 3rd Fleet as it passed through the area. The situation was chosen by the Osean Army to carry out the sea tests of the Navy's new aircraft carrier, the Hubert-class CVN-30 Kestrel.

Aftermath

Despite the allied victory, a small number of Belkan soldiers remained in the canal, who remained hidden from the passing vessels for days after the takeover of Futuro. One such troop, the Tollwut Hund unit, survived for nearly a week before being found by a rescue helicopter.
