The Osean Air Defense Force (OADF) is the aerial warfare service branch of the Osean military. It is one of the largest air forces in the world, and is likely only rivaled by the Yuktobanian Air Force in size.
It took part in the Belkan War and the Circum-Pacific War during respectively 1995 and 2010. More recently it has been deployed to the Osea-Erusea Conflict which began in 2019 but it is currently unknown when the war will end.
History
Belkan War
The first known involvement of the Osean Air Defense Force took place in 1995, in the midst of the Belkan War. After Belka began their offensive against neighboring nations in March 25th, the Osean military formed an alliance with the Republic of Ustio, forming a coalition known as the "Allied Forces". The OADF actively participated in various operations of the war, such as Battle of B7R and the bombing of Hoffnung. After the war ended, the Air Force recruited a number of Belkan ace pilots, which formed the basis of the 8492nd Squadron.
Circum-Pacific War
Fifteen years later, the OADF returned to action in the Circum-Pacific War of 2010 with Yuktobania, their former ally in the war. The Air Force played an important role through the course of the war, defending Osean Federation from the initial Yuktobanian offensive and later participating in the invasion of the country. In particular, the 108th Tactical Fighter Squadron of the 5th Wing became a major source for Osean Army's morale, gaining a reputation as "demons" after sinking a Yuktobanian underwater aircraft carrier, the Hrimfaxi, at the Razgriz Straits.
Osea-Erusea Conflict
Around ten years after the Circum-Pacific War, the OADF were once again involved in combat, this time with the Kingdom of Erusea's forces. Princess Rosa Cossette D'Elise of Erusea claims that the declaration of war was in response to the Osean Federation forcing construction of the International Space Elevator on Erusian territory.
Overview
The Osean Air Force follows a traditional air force structure. The force is mainly divided into large groups, wings, which in turn are divided into smaller groups, squadrons. The OADF is under the jurisdiction of the "Air Combat Commando" group, while the body responsible for commanding the force itself is the Osean Air Defense Force Central Command, or "Central" for short.

Trivia
- In the European release of Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War, the name of the OADF is changed to "Osean Air Defence Force", following British spelling conventions.
- The Osean Air Defense Force (as portrayed in AC5) is based on the real-world United States Air Force (USAF), bearing distinctly similar service dress uniforms, flightsuits, aircraft, rank structure, and organizational structure (albeit outdated; the USAF stopped using the Air Division command level in 1992). However it should be noted that in the USAF, Airman First Class is an enlisted rank and in the USAF enlisted personnel cannot serve as pilots or undergo flight training.
- In the recently announced Ace Combat 7 trailer, the roundel for the Osean Air Defence Force can be seen on the F-22 that is seen pursuing an Erusean Su-30M.
