Reconnaissance is the act of gathering information. In military situations, reconnaissance refers to gathering information on an enemy's troop strength, movements, environmental conditions, or other desired details. Many reconnaissance operations are covert.

In aerial reconnaissance, aircraft are used to gather information as desired. These aircraft are generally specially designed for low detection or enhanced observation capabilities, but may also be as simple as a single fighter aircraft, depending on the mission requirements. They are usually unarmed or only armed for self-defense.

In Ace Combat, the SR-71 and the U-2 make appearances as reconnaissance aircraft. Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War also features a reconnaissance mission.

Following is a list of all reconnaissance aircraft in each Ace Combat game. They are sorted in order of their first appearance; click the arrows next to a column header to change the sort order.
