==Trivia== |
==Trivia== |
||
− | * |
+ | *Prior to Ace Combat Infinity, the aircraft was simply called the Su-27 Flanker before finally changing to Flanker-B. |
− | ** |
+ | **Additionally, depending on its special weapons being provided for each game, the Su-27 is likely based on two variants which feature the same designation, Flanker-B. For a special weapon set with at least one bomb-type special weapon, the aircraft is inspired by the initial production Su-27S variant; while for a special weapon set featuring only air-to-air weapons, it is inspired by the Su-27P air defense variant. |
− | * |
+ | *The NPC models of the Su-27s seen in Ace Combat Infinity, alongside with those in Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, appears to be modeled after the Su-35S Flanker-E, but with a paint scheme from the Su-27SKM variant. |
+ | *The enemy controlled Su-27s in Air Combat can perform the Pugachev Cobra maneuver. It is the only aircraft which can perform a cobra in Air Combat. |
||
+ | *The Su-27 in Air Combat features canards, which may be modeled after the Su-27M, an earlier designation for the Su-35 Super Flanker. |

The Su-27 Flanker-B (Su-27 Flanker in previous games) is a fighter aircraft. It debuted in Air Combat and has since been prominently featured in the series.
History
Strangereal
Flankers had seen use in multiple conflicts. It was first used in the Skully Islands insurrection.
The Belkan Air Force utilised Flankers throughout the Belkan War. The most prominent user was the Postler Squadron.[1]
During the Circum-Pacific War, Flankers were used by both the Osean Air Defense Force and the Yuktobanian Air Force.
During the Aurelian War, Flankers were used during the mid-stages of the war by both the Aurelian Air Force and the Leasath Air Force. An AAF unit, Ninox Squadron, utilised Su-27s during the liberation of Griswall. A Leasathian ace, callsign Acrux, also used the aircraft.[2] The Gryphus Squadron also utilised Flankers throughout the war.
Joint Assault universe
During the Valahia Crisis, former Martinez Security pilot Tolya Kiriakov flew a Flanker during his service with the PMC and the first battle between the Varcolac Squadron and the Antares Squadron. After that, he switched out his Flanker for the more powerful Terminator. Flankers were also deployed by the Valahia in the London Attack[3] , the defense of the radar sites in the Serbian Mountains [4] and the Balaur railgun in Romania.[5]
Assault Horizon universe
Flankers were used by the New Russian Federation during their uprising and Russian Air Force during the mission Aftermath.
Infinity universe
Su-27s were heavily used by the USEA Federation during Operation Eternal Liberation. They were also available for use by UNF pilots.
Game Analysis
Ace Combat Infinity
- "An aircraft planned and manufactured by the old Soviet Union.
It features incredibly high combat capabilities and long range flight time, to compete with F-15s from the United States. It is also currently still used in Russia, older nations from the former Soviet Union, and the third world.
Large in size and yet with excellent maneuverability, its wide ranging potential has led to many variants being created, and it can be said to be an aircraft representative of the 4th generation on the Eastern side.
Its NATO codename is "Flanker"." - ― Hangar

Trivia
- Prior to Ace Combat Infinity, the aircraft was simply called the Su-27 Flanker before finally changing to Flanker-B.
- Additionally, depending on its special weapons being provided for each game, the Su-27 is likely based on two variants which feature the same designation, Flanker-B. For a special weapon set with at least one bomb-type special weapon, the aircraft is inspired by the initial production Su-27S variant; while for a special weapon set featuring only air-to-air weapons, it is inspired by the Su-27P air defense variant.[6]
- The NPC models of the Su-27s seen in Ace Combat Infinity, alongside with those in Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, appears to be modeled after the Su-35S Flanker-E, but with a paint scheme from the Su-27SKM variant.
- The enemy controlled Su-27s in Air Combat can perform the Pugachev Cobra maneuver. It is the only aircraft which can perform a cobra in Air Combat.
- The Su-27 in Air Combat features canards, which may be modeled after the Su-27M, an earlier designation for the Su-35 Super Flanker.
