The Su-30M2 Flanker-F2 is a two-seat combat aircraft developed from the Su-27 Flanker-B. It was first introduced to the series in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.

History[]

The Su-30M2 has been used very sporadically, mainly as an agile air superiority fighter.

Five Su-30M2s were utilised by Free Erusean forces during the 2014 uprising[1] during Operation Gator Panic, when the rebel forces attacked an IUN-PKF air base in Scofields Plateau.

The only known deployments of the Su-30M2 in the Lighthouse War[2] were by the 2nd to 5th pilots of the Erusean Air and Space Administration 68th Experimental Squadron, also known as Sol Squadron.

The first time Sol Squadron used the fighter was in Operation Two Pairs, when Sol 2 and Sol 3 assisted their leader, Sol 1, of which flew the more advanced Su-30SM. Multiple Osean fighters were shot down, but, due to the climate worsening in Yinshi Valley, the squadron was forced to retreat.

The second known deployment was in the final stages of Operation Giant's Step, the entire 5-man squadron was sent to Farbanti as an last resort for Erusea. All fighters were shot down, except for Sol 1, which managed to escape when radio communications stopped working.

During Operation Beehive, Sol 2 through Sol 5 took off from a makeshift runway in the Shilage Castle, and attempted to shoot down Strider Squadron, but Sol 4 and 5 were soon shot down by Strider 1, Sol 2 and 3 later retreated when Sol 1 arrived in an X-02S Strike Wyvern.

In October 31st, Sol 2 and 3 joined an Osean-Erusean coalition during Operation Daredevil, with the objective of destroying the last Arsenal Bird. Later, two ADF-11F Raven UAVs appeared, shooting down several fighters, although, Sol 2 and 3 managed to retreat. The next day, both pilots joined Strider Squadron and other fighters in Operation Hush in order to shoot down Hugin and Munin, ending the war.

In June 30, 2020, 4 replicas of the Su-30M2s used by Sol Squadron were showcased alongside an Sol 1's X-02S replica at Redmill Air Force Base during the Memorial Day 2020.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike in Ace Combat 7, the real-life Su-30M2's NATO reporting name is Flanker-G+, rather than Flanker-F2. The latter reporting name would instead be properly used for a derivative of the Su-37.
