The Su-47 Berkut (Russian: Су-47 Беркут, or Firkin; English: Golden Eagle) is an experimental forward-swept wing fighter aircraft.
History[]
Strangereal[]
Belkan Air Force pilots extensively used the Su-47 during the Belkan War. The Gault Team was one of the most prominent Belkan units that used the aircraft.[1] In addition, ace pilots Anne Zweig and Ashley Bernitz also flew the Su-47.[2]
Some pilots in the Usean Rebel Forces used the Su-47 during the Usean coup d'état. These included Albireo Squadron (except the flight leader) and the ace pilot known as Fox Force Four.[3]
The Federal Erusea Air Force owned some S-37A models during the Continental War, but did not utilize them until the defense of Farbanti at the end of the war.[4] An Erusean S-37A ace pilot known as Smirnova joined the rebellious officers in taking control of Megalith.[5]
The Belkan Air Force continued using the Su-47 during the Circum-Pacific War. A large number of Belkan Su-47 pilots flew to the Vladimir Mountains in Yuktobania to intercept Wardog Squadron,[6] but Belka only used its remaining Su-47s to defend its own territory following that engagement.[7][8][9]
The Estovakian Air Force used Su-47s during the Emmeria-Estovakia War. One Estovakian ace pilot, Ozren Milos, fought Emmerians over Mount Marcello early in the war.[10] Estovakia tasked a unit of four Su-47s to defend San Loma from Emmeria's counteroffensive.[11] Estovakian officers opposing the treaty[12] later deployed large numbers of Su-47s to attack Gracemeria during the cruise missile attack[13] and to defend the Chandelier.[14] The Emmerian Air Force would occasionally use modified Su-47s for airshows.[15]
The Berkut was utilized in the later stages of the Lighthouse War in limited numbers. One of the first deployments of the Su-47 during the war was by Mimic Squadron of General Resource Limited's Guardian Mercenaries during Operation Sighthound. These Berkuts were outfitted with advanced ECM systems which could interfere with targetting systems.[16] Mimic once again flew Berkuts six days later, where they were engaged and shot down by Trigger and Count during Operation Domino.[17] Another notable Su-47 pilot was Erusea's Jules Martin, who joined a flight of Su-35S Flanker-Es intended to reinforce the failing defenses of the Erusean airbase at Cape Rainy; however, both he and the Flanker-Es were shot down by Trigger.[18] Erusean Su-47s were later seen as part of Farbanti's defenses during Operation Giant's Step,[19] and at the end of the war where Radical Eruseans used the aircraft during Operation Daredevil.[20]
The only pilot to canonically use an Su-47 during the Aurelian War was Leasath Air Force ace pilot Dusk.[21]
Joint Assault universe[]
The Su-47 was used by the Golden Axe Plan Private Army with a notable pilot named Lily.[22] Antares Squadron also had access to the aircraft during the Valahia Crisis.
Assault Horizon universe[]
Infinity universe[]
The Su-47 was one of the many aircraft Wernher and Noah Enterprises reproduced with their Advanced Automated Aviation Plant. United Nations Forces, mercenaries, and the USEA Federation forces in Europe all used this aircraft during Operation Eternal Liberation.

Trivia[]
- The Ace Combat 04 rendition of the Berkut is notable for being a transitional model. It has slightly different proportions and has several inaccuracies. Its overall appearance is a synthesis of the earlier Su-43 (from Ace Combat 3) and the real world Su-47. This is due to the fact that the real aircraft had very few references at the time. This discrepancy was remedied later in Ace Combat 5, where a more accurate model is used.
- Despite being only a demonstrator in real life, it's been one of the most widely used enemy aircraft in the Ace Combat series from Shattered Skies to the Belkan War.
- Surprisingly, there is not one Su-47 seen in the campaign missions of Assault Horizon, probably due to the game's real world setting and the fact that only one of them exists. This raises some questions as to how Task Force 108 was able to gain one for their arsenal and managed to get it combat worthy.
- Using the Quick Turn skill with this aircraft results in ridiculously high maneuverability, which can be both a blessing and a curse. At best, it can allow players to get out of an enemy's sights and launch their own attack; at worst, it can disorient players to the point they can't tell ground from sky until it's too late. It comes at the cost of stability, however; the Berkut has trouble slowing down to countermaneuver speed without stalling. But even without this skill, it has the highest mobility of all available aircraft.
- In Assault Horizon, during the briefing of the mission, Motherland, several photos of Ace Combat 6's Su-47 are on the walls.
