Sunao Katabuchi is a Japanese TV artist and member of animation studio Studio 4°C. He is known for directing or writing the script of various Japanese animated series and films, including Kiki's Delivery Service, Card Captor Sakura, Monster and Black Lagoon.
In the Ace Combat series, Katabuchi was the side story director of Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies, as well as the screenplay director of Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War. Regarding Ace Combat 04, Katabuchi said its storyboard "wasn't as tough as TV animation because it didn't move", but that he "tried to make it have a more live-action feel".[2] He also came up with the concept of Yellow Squadron, which led to the concept of Mobius 1.[1]
