The Spiridus deploying IRCM in London
Sustainable Infared Countermeasure Shells (IRCM) are defensive devices featured in Ace Combat: Joint Assault. When in use, glowing orbs appear to disrupt incoming missiles that come into their vicinity.
Apart from its use as a special weapon for player aircraft, the IRCM is also used by the Spiridus in Nightwatch (12B), Ghost Hunt, and Wrecking Ball. Unlike the IRCM available to the player, the orbs produced by the enemy Spiridus can cause damage to the player's aircraft if they get too close.
