The A340 is an airliner used for civilian transport. It made its first appearance in Ace Combat: Assault Horizon and later appeared in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, specifically in missions involving Selatapura.

History[]

The A340 appeares to be a popular choice among airline corporations in Strangereal, evident in its use by various flag carriers across the globe. By the 2010s, at least three airlines were known to have used the aircraft, including Osea Airlines, Emmeria Airways, and Air Erusea.[1]

During the Lighthouse War, multiple A340s owned by Osea Airlines, Emmeria Airways, and Air Erusea, were parked at Selatapura's international airport. A340s from those three airlines continued using the airport during Operation Lighthouse Keeper,[2] Operation Daredevil,[3] and Operation Hush.[4]

Assault Horizon universe[]

During the battle over Dubai, AWACS Magic informs Warwolf Squadron that an A340 carrying cargo and supplies is flying through the airspace. The A340 later almost collided with William Bishop's aircraft as he chased an enemy ace pilot. The A340 soon after flew down a river in northern Dubai towards Dubai International Airport, landing on the central runway after reaching its destination. [5]

In the final battle of the New Russian Federation uprising, another A340 takes off from Ronald Reagan National Airport. Multiple other A340s also remained parked at the airport during the Washington, D.C. battle.[6]

Trivia[]

  • The A340 at Dubai emits a highly audible engine noise, which can be heard when flying nearby.
  • Both airliner types featured in the game have original airline livery designs. The Dubai version has a stripe running across the side of the aircraft and a tri-colorway fin resembling the Emirates paint scheme, while the Washington, D.C. version has a black and gray paintjob.
  • In Ace Combat: Assault Horizon and with some examples in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, the A340 features different winglets to those featured on real world examples; whereas the A340 in real life features canted winglets, A340s in-game have wingtip fences reminiscent of those found on the Airbus A320 family and A380.
