Kono was in
Assault Horizon mode at that point; he was dead-set on proving that the series can remake itself and that it can be relevant and modern. Obviously, they didn't do it so well, since they were modeling their stuff after
Call of Duty, but I feel for Project Aces because they sincerely thought they would do the series right. So I'm not surprised that Kono dismissed a PS2 trilogy remake back then.
But then there's that guy who went to Kono in person at a convention and showed him a possible cover for a PS3 game with all three PS2 games remastered in it, and Kono was surprised and delighted to see it, with ideas. So the trilogy still has a chance.
Obviously "that guy" didn't bring a briefcase of cash or bank cheques when he met Kono in person. If he did, there will be even an ACE Combat 2 remastered software on PS3/X-Box 360.
LOL true. Regardless of what we hope, a gaming company is just a company. It wants to make money. And even if Namco Bandai didn't want to make money, Sony and Microsoft still would.
EDIT: Plus, I don't want to see just remakes of games in Ace Combat's future. I want to see new, original plots, specifically ones that take place in Strangereal. I loved how in-depth the plot of Ace Combat 5 was. If you replay the game enough, you'll notice a lot of subtlties in the plot that you don't get in other games.
