Everyone that plays Infinity (and wants to) should put their PSN names in here, we all add each other and in the status or comment section of our own account ´´1st Infinity Sq.´´ or something like that. And once in the game we should coordinate to have the same nicknames so we look more organized.
My idea is that we work as a real-life squadron (due to the fact that a Squad isn´t just made up of 4 pilots that always fly together, but of many other pilots that stay grounded). So if anyone creates a room or needs more players, he or she can invite members that have already signed up in here.
It would also make the things a little more easy if we want to organize another COOP event, as we would already have the names and accounts of some participants
Well, that´s all. Thanks for passing by and reading, and if you agree on the idea please put your psn account in the comment section
I never thought about a flight lead. I just thought that if you want to play and you need a team mate, you can call us in. Surely we can arrange a private party sometime, but I sincerely don´t think that we need a Leader
I'd like to join but I'd probably be more of a "reserve" pilot since I won't be on that often. I'm at college right now and I left my PS3 at home so I'd probably only be available every couple of weeks until summer.
This sounds pretty awesome, but my situation is like Razgriz470. I'm only playing on the weekends, and even then it's not for a very long time. Next week though I'll be free the entire week. My PSN name is slo75035.
I know, I get that a lot. But yeah, thanks. My idea is that maybe every month or so, if we get this thing going, we can tally up everyone's scores and figure out who's the "Ace of the Month" or something like that.
Members: Santy_ace_combat; Angelgchb; MyNamesFurii; slo75035 (and Razgriz but he didn´t put his PSN)
Squadron/ Task Force name: Still unclear (once we have one we will write it down in the comment part of our own PSN´s
Infinity Callsign: Bingo! (for now)
And concerning to the Top Ace, We could make a list writing down our owns MR´s, so at the end of the month, the one with the biggest MR difference from his/her original one becomes the top ace. This is somehow of an experiment as it is not Liar-proof nor SealClubbing-proof
Heh, well. I can infer from your name that it must be the Super Hornet? I'm about to get the T-50 PAK-FA, but so far my best(aircraft set wise) are the SU-35 Flanker-E, F-15C -Pixy-, and the RafaleM -VentdAnge-
No, we don't. Yellow 13 was the leader of his squadron, but he went by the name number "13" instead of Yellow 1, which would be correct. It's the same here. I'm not the 13th member, I'm just the number 13.
Or like Strigon, which most of the time had around 5-6 fighters flying at one time? And Toscha, even though he was one of the first original members before the Vampire Squadron was disbanded and itsembera re-routed into Strigon, was called Strigon 12
I agree on that part Furii, but about Yellow Squadron, they only flew five planes at a time, so it wouldn't member what number you would be, whether it be Yellow 2 or Yellow 8. And with Strigon, go to the arrival about them on the wiki and you can see how many members there are, and half of them repeat the same numbers in the squadron, like "Strigon 5 (New)" because they had to constantly get new members to the point only Toscha was the only original member of Strigon left. The rest were from Vampire.
So strigon just had a big waiting list then? :P Anyways what are you guy's Callsigns and whats our numbers. Like "Cygnus" (Number) Fighter Squadron//Tactical Fighter Wing. _ Air Division. Also, what would our letters be, like Garuda has that GM 028 thing right? I know the 028 stands for their Fighter Division but what do those letters mean and what would ours be?
Kinda yeah. And the GM stands for their home air base/ city, Gracemeria. It's just like how Cipher and Pixy's planes had VL on their vertical stabilizers, which stood for Valais Air Base, their home air base.
Well, we have several options on both sides of the coin. We have one side being Strangereal, and we can either be from Estovakia,Emmerian, Yuktobania, Osea, Leasath, Aurelia, Ustio, Belka, Erusea or Usea/ISAF. On the other side we have Earth, and we can be from any of the countries that have a fully functional Air Force from Assault Horizon and Joint Assault, or we can be from the Infinity version of Eartj and be from Arrrows, the U.S, the E.U, the Aisian Federation, or the USEA Federation.
Hmm having the butterfly master on your side could be cool, but I want to be a squadron from Strangereal. Hey, whats Wellow done in the AC timeline besides holding a conference or something?? You wanna use a country in the strangereal universe that already has aces or do you want to use a unused country first??
It depends, everyone has to make a decision. But my personal preferences is either Ustio or Belka, since my favorite aces are from there and my favorite game is Ace Combat Zero. I forgot to mention too, one of the countries in Strangereal too is Nordennavik, the kingdom north of Emmeria, and Sapin, which is south of Ustio
Don't you want to be part of a new country? Because you know, if we join Ustio we would be outshined by Cipher, Cipher. Or we could Join Ustio during like 2010-2020 time period where Galm One might have retired. We could be the new Aces of Ustio.
Yeah, I guess. I would like to be part of the Nordennavik Air Force, since they pretty much only get noticed once in Fires of Liberation and then in the non-canon game Ace Combat Northern Wings. Ah I'm just a hardcore Belkan at heart! Besides, it's my popular belief that Cipher moved on to become Mobius 1 and then became Blaze in 2010.
Well thats a cool theory. I'm still sticking with the they are all different people but everyone is entitled to an opinion right? Ok we need everyone else to help us choose a nation for us to fight for.
Since we're probably going to be a mercenary force, I suggest we be a fighter squadron, since Task Force's are more associated with air forces. I like Cygnus as our squadron name, and our company we're a part of, like Arrows, should be maybe Round Hammer Air Defense Services or something like that.
Well, there's two choices. One is since we are a mercenary force, much like Bone Arrrow Squadron, we won't need a air squadron/division number. Two is that we're like the mercenary forces employed by Ustio during the Belkan War and we do have a squadron/air division number, like Galm Squadron
I say we stick with Round Hammer Air Defense Cocoon, and the reason why is because Ace & Hammer is a military manufacturing company, not a private military contractor/company. It says so on its article here on Acepedia. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but I do like your squadron number and air division. now all we would need is a country in Strangereal to call our home...
So this is what I'm looking at. Round Hammer Air Defense, 3rd Air Division, 17th Tactical Fighter Squadron "Cygnus" in service of the Ustio Air Force. We have Super-Hornet-as Cygnus "X", since you havn't chosen a number, Santy_ace_combat as Cygnus "X", Angelgchb as Cygnus "X", MyNamesFurii as Cygnus "X", myself, slo75035, as Cygnus 13, Cocoon as Cygnus "X", and Razgriz470 as Cygnus "X"
Well for starters this will be for Infinity, and I doubt any of us have the same aircraft as one another. Second, we're a mercenary squadron in service to the air force, so we shouldn't really have to have a mainstay aircraft, like Bone Arrrow Squadron
@Cipher 66th TFS. Lol your message did not show up for me yet when I typed that :P Yeah nice name reference to Demon Lord. I can Imagine AWACS or one of us saying over coms "Cygnus 13, Mephisto, carry out the legacy." Implying that you carry out Cipher's legacy.
Moving to General Discussion because this is not an Acepedia Event.
So I don't know if you guys know this, but I've been following this thread for quite some time now. I've had a sense of pride seeing the members create a squadron here to meet up more often in Infinity than I can provide for through Acepedia Events (one of which I'm hoping to schedule for the middle of December, so stay tuned for that!).
I wanted to see just how far you guys would take this before I stepped in and said anything. No, I'm not shutting you down, I promise. But MyNamesFurii did personally ask me on my wall for permission to create an article for you guys or begin endorsing events and the like. And I think this may require a bit of backstory before I can get to my decision.
The thing is, this is the first time in the past year a group of Acepedia editors banded together to create a squadron. When I initially joined Acepedia as an administrator in November 2013 (I missed my one-year anniversary a couple of weeks ago D:), the wikia (as decided by Protostealth, I, and a couple of other members) had just banned squadrons, because they were treated as fan art. It was a necessary thing to do back then, unfortunately, because we were littered with tons of squadron pages and templates and the like. There are still some I have to delete somewhere, I'm sure.
I've said this statement a dozen times since taking on the administrator position a year ago, and I'll continue saying it as many times as necessary. Acepedia is, first and foremost, an information hub for Ace Combat games. That should never change. But then there's a community here, a community of players who can interact in an Ace Combat game that has multiplayer. And squadrons, such as what I will now christen and refer to as the "Acepedia 1st Air Force Unit, 1st Infinity Squadron" codename "Cygnus Squadron", have been banned for a year. So, believe it or not, you guys have actually been breaking an Acepedia rule here the entire time. :P
So now what do I do, as the administrator in this position? Easy. I lift the ban. This is a community, and we have to treat it as such. But I'm not entirely sure that I can take it further than that, and allow you guys to make articles or make this an Acepedia Event thing. Some members of this site would not want to join a squadron, or maybe even they want to create their own squadron. So here are the ground rules:
I know this was a long reply, but I felt it was necessary, and I hope I've cleared some stuff up. If there's anything that still needs to be asked/said/modified, please please please say something. I'd really love for squadrons to return to the wikia, and the passion I'm seeing in you guys is something I haven't personally seen since I led a guild years ago. Trust me, I'm enjoying seeing this thread. It's about time. :D
I will say, though, that if you're going to use a squadron nickname (personally, I wouldn't enforce one, but that's up to you guys), I wouldn't use a tournament nickname. Probably use something that everyone can access, such as the "Sortie 10 times in X" or "Sortie 100 times in X" nicknames? Just a suggestion; I'm not forcing anything here. :P
I accept and understand everything you said up there sly. For what I can understand, we would we creating an Ace combat squadron (for playing the game), but we are not a real squadron in the strangereal continuity, as the squadron itself nor anyone of us have been featured on a real AC game. By saying that, I understand that nobody in this group can create an article in this wiki about us (separating the facts and data that the AC games give us from the stories we invent).
One thing that isn´t clear for me yet is the tournament thing. If I am a member of this squadron, I will not be able to participate in any acepedia event even if I played as an acepedia member and not a squadron member? The point that I´m trying to make in here is that for what I understand, the squadron itself (all the members all working together) cannot participate in a regular event. But I would like to know if we can take part of that event as acepedia members and not working as a team to lead to favoritism.
And concerning for the elitism or anything about that, I can asure that such thing won´t happen, as this squadron is free to enter and leave, and our Top Ace is chosen by the game itself (The one that scores more points).
Finally, thank you for clearing some doubts and remarking some points.
@Cipher 66th TFS: I try my best. :P You're welcome :)
First paragraph: Correct.
Second paragraph: Being a member of a squadron does not ban you from participating in Acepedia Events. What I mean is, there will be no Acepedia Events specifically designed for squadrons. For example, I can't make an Acepedia Event "for Cygnus Squadron members only", because that locks out the rest of the wikia's members. Instead, what Acepedia Events have done and will continue to do is put everyone on an equal footing to play together outside of squadrons and anything else. You're not banned from Acepedia Events; you just won't be able to fly in the name of Cygnus or have a Cygnus-exclusive event. I hope that cleared it up.
Or maybe Pioneer or mercenary if you have them. the ´´Terminator´´ nickname isn´t impossible to gain, and it´s pretty awesome. With your selection, I would go with Lake swan, you know, for the Cygnus reference
@Super-Hornet-Fan Yeah that nickname sounds cool. Also for doing the monthly strategic mission challenge the OEL-M pilot medal has a swan on it. Just saying. We dont have to change our emblem I was just pointing out something :) Lol I just woke up and went to acepedia because I was so eager and scared about what Sly had said :P
By the way, guys, I forgot to mention. I know you wanted a sort of "central place" to host squadron information, and, like MyNamesFurii just did on the user page, maybe a template for the squadron. Why not right here? The first post, made by Super-Hornet-Fan, can be edited with wikia code just like any article, so you can make this thread your whole meeting area and everything. Plus, as some of you might already be, you can get notifications every time someone replies. If you guys think this is a good idea, then I can move this topic into a new "Acepedia Squadrons" forum. :)
I have suggested to the Wikia Staff that pagination be added to the new forum discussions, because we had a humongous Infinity discussion (1000+ replies!) and it takes forever to load it. Pagination would definitely be a major help here.
Yeah thats cool, I forgot to mention that in the message I posted on your wall Sly. I just had writen the thing twice since you know my internet died the first time so I forgot to put it in a second time :P
Demons of Hræsvelgr wrote: How would I go about joining Cygnus? XD
Yo man its easy just add us and choose your number. Which number u wanna be? So far, Cygnus 2,3 and 13 have been taken. The rest have just been placeholders. We currently have 6 members and you makes seven. Whats your aircraft aswell? Check my user page there is a Cygnus squadron list at the bottom.
And Sly, if you could change the Leader section to "Cygnus 1", that would be great. We only lable the leader of the squadron as the one who obtains the highest point amount in Infinity every month. And Furii, how did you get that image of the Operation OEL-M on you profile?
Um it went into the template then types [[Image:IMAGEFILENAMEHERE.jpg/png]] The image file is called OEL Moscow Battle.png
I will put spaces but do not type spaces. Besides the name. Hard to type because the Wikia sees it as a command. So you type [ [ first then ] ] <-- But with no spaces in between the brackets. Next to the first one you put Image: OEL Moscow Battle.png in side the 4 brackets.
Me and Cipher put ´´Cygnus Squadron´´, as its shorter and it fits. My gaming times are from 10pm to 12pm in my country wich would be from 7PM to 9PM GMT so im pretty much in the same situation as Cocoon. By the way, I´m going to be really busy this week so I can´t promise you anything, at least for this week
I've completely finished all my mandatory educational levels (primary and secondary schooling) so, at the moment, I'm pretty much on a massive holiday period. So, I can play whenever during the day. All I need is a quite early forewarning of an event.
Well I'm behind on things but I'm in college right now but winter break us coming up so I'll have a few weeks free, plus I'm on thanksgiving break right now so I can play any time this week. I live in Nebraska (US central time) for those that need to coordinate time zones.
If someone could add the Rafale M to the roster that would be great, I use the Vent d'Ange quite a bit.
I think I'm gonna stick to ground attack in the future, please add the Su-24M to the list, I'm gonna start using that again. I'm in the middle of redoing my plane setups so I'm not sure what the rest are.
I've seen videos of a friend of mine using it, he says its awesome, even at level 1 (mine) is very good, though it's slow. So I will upgrade it to get LASM for Naval Fleet Assault and GPB for Co-op, besides its an original craft.
I might get on later today. I gave rnough stocked fuel to last me a while. We should get on at leat all at the same time so we could create our own room for Online Co-Op so we could participate in the ranking event
Well i just repeatedly sortied in Moscow Battle and docused on the aerial enemies and some ground enemies to rack up points. Now i get to work on leveling uo my T-50. Oh plus i got the Operation OEL-M badge from the Moscow Battle mission finally
Haven't had time to sign-up with the WIkia, but you Smith is the name and Smythe24 is the PSN. Definitely would love to play with people who know what they're doing (sure let's get a B on Stonehenge with 90 seconds left! ugh) and also get the invite challenge reward.
let's wait until this weekend offers for a Ranking Tourney. That way if the rewards seem worthwhile, we can form our own room and work towards the rewards together and help one another out (that doesn't mean we hold eachother's hands, we are mercenaries after all and we all wanna be the top earner)
Since my namesake comes from Cipher, the undisputed king of the Round Table, im gonna conplete the OEL B7R challenge and get the "Ruler of the Round Table" nickname to replace my other one, the "Guardian of the Kremlin". And to get to tbe FB-22, one way is past the Rafale M. Then the Lancer comes before the B-2 on their line.
I've been systematically working my way forward unlocking planes in every part of the tree left to right (not counting the new stuff). So if you're looking at the tree, I own everything to the left of the Growler.
Also have most of the non-tournament special planes that have come out in the last 3 months.
