Do you guys ever think that Ace Combat Infinity was not just for the cash, but for another reason?
We've been waiting for the HD remastered PS2 collection to come out and I have a feeling that ACI was made to lay down it's foundation. I mean, think about it, a bunch of missions and original aircraft of the older ACs have returned and have been recreated for the current gen. They can use that for the HD collection and by the time ACI reaches it's end, we'll have even more missions and aircraft. Let's not forget the fuel and other payable loot, it helps PA fund the development of the HD collection. Lastly, ACI has definately improved the multiplayer of AC, so maybe we'll have a seriously epic multiplayer in the collection or AC7.
Though perhaps, I'm wrong and this is rubbish, or someone already thought of this. Nevertheless, I really hope Project Aces/Bandai Namco planned this and this is not a cash grab.
Project Aces poured a lot of their love into it. Bandai Namco did steer it into a cashgrab at some point, especially with the recent update, but nothing goes against the Ace Combat game Project Aces did their hardest to make with the story and multiplayer gameplay. I still maintain that the gameplay of Online Co-Op is the best multiplayer we've had in Ace Combat, outside of the aircraft tree and fuel and upgrades and stuff like that.
The fact that they HD-ified Stonehenge, SOLG, Aigaion, Avalon, B7R, and Comona has to mean something, but whether it's just a cash-grab or a hint at something more, only time can tell. For now, we just have to deal with what we've got.
I've actually had this thought plenty of time, why would it suggest too pay too improve your experience on the game otherwise? All that money has too be used for something...hopefully, and hopefully its not because they turned greedy.
Perhaps with the newly added R-101 Delphinus #1 and the its coffin system into infinity hints towards a remake of AC3...I have always taught that ACI has always been a series reboot together with HD collection into one mix game...
@Raul765: No. Kazutoki Kono said that if an AC3 remake were to happen, it would cost so much that there'd be no chance. Its chances of happening are less than the PS2 HD Collection. Directly his words. So no. Not happening.
This is my idea: when they first created "Ace Combat", Namco imagined a fictional world with unknown countries like Aurelia, Erusea, Yuktobania and so on. But they used "real world" aircrafts (at least until AC3).
Later they've created Assault Horizon, which takes place in the real world.
In the end, they came out with "Infinity", where the real world ends and the new one begins to be shaped.
Do you see where I am getting at? In Infinity every description involving past aircrafts says something like "hero from an undisclosed Nation", or "a faraway country mercenary pilot" or something like that.
I believe they want to reunite the worlds, creating a long story line which starts with Col. Bishop from ACAH and ends with AC3 (cronologically, it should be the latest title, right?).
Once they achieve that, they shall begin creating a new game which covers all the past titles.
I desperately try to figure out where everyone gets the notion that Infinity is Strangereal before Strangereal became Strangereal, and I never get anything. We would have to have a catastrophic event unlike any seen in our universe, with countless meteor showers of hundreds of thousands of meteors, which probably equates to hundreds of Ulysses events, just to get the landmasses to look like those on Strangereal's Earth.
If they're excluding the whole we-need-to-terraform-the-planet situation, but they're actually aiming to reorganize some of these parts of the world into countries like Osea, Yuktobania, etc. then I think I'm done. Because that would be absolutely, incredibly, stupid. I can put up with references, like the USEA Federation, but I do not want to see them take the entire world they made, put it on Infinity's Earth, and call it Strangereal.
Obviously, if it happens and I'm still the admin of this wikia, I'd probably have to put up with it like I put up with all of the stupid insults from the seedy parts of the internet. But I don't think I'd be happy if they went down that path.
It'd be interesting but way too complicated to explain IMO.
I'm fairly certain the only reason Ace Combat moved to Earth is to make it more relatable to new players unfamiliar with Strangereal. Personally I believe Infinity's plot and setting was created to continue this strategy but also as a throwback to the old games to keep veterans of the series happy and interested.
I agree with you, Razgriz. Personally, I would like to see another Strangereal Game OR an HD Collection of AC4, AC5 and ACZ. But this time, it shouldn't be a cash grab. The Sortie Fuel thing was a huge mistake. So was putting the old aircraft such as F-14A -ZIPANG- or Su-37 -YELLOW 13- as event drops. I've been playing Ace Combat since The Unsung War, and Infinity is one of my favorite games ever. If Infinity was in Strangereal, I would be happier than Earth Games, but like what TheTLMGuy, I think they're trying to connect the Strangereal world and the Earth world with a "bridge of peace." No pun intended. Arkbird *cough cough*
Eh. I think the point of infinity from Project Aces standpoint is probably to combine as much overall conent from the entire series into one reasonably cohesive "world" as they can manage. We may never get that HD collection of original titles because no matter how much PA might like to provide it and the fans want it, there is no profit to be made from it. Sticklers are just going to have to live with whatever retcons they come up with in the meantime.
Honestly, if I'm feeling nostalgic, my PS2 still works and if given a choice I would much rather see ACI carried over to PS4 more than anything.

Sometimes this issue kinda worries me.
Unlikely to happen. Bandai-Namco needs money, and it's not usually a smart choice completely leaving out a console and everyone who uses it.
I think they're running an "experiment" with Infinity: BN wants to see how much interest raises ACI among players.
I have heard that from (what I think was someone from project aces) before infinity came out that it was an experiment to see how many fans of the game there are and is probably going to determine if they are going to make an Ace combat for the PS4.
I agree with the theory of Infinity as an "experiment" to see how's there gonna be future Ace Combat game for next-gen consoles so it has to be "experimented" on PS3.
And yet on FB fanpage there're still many people keeps asking for port of Infinity for other consoles even though it has been confirmed (officialy ?) and stated many times that it will stay exclusive to PS3.
But somehow I kinda skeptical about Infinity as crowdfunding game for next Ace Combat release. Will they actually make use of the funds collected from players buying the paid-content in Infinity as budget for the production for future Ace Combat titles ? I personally hope they will.
