With no warning from Bandai Namco Entertainment, it falls on us to announce this. The title says it all. After browsing http://acecombat.jp a few minutes ago, I came across an announcement that Bandai Namco is ceasing production of Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception, and Ace Combat: Joint Assault. This includes digital purchases; the games are no longer available for digital purchase (except in regions where the store hasn't updated yet - they will be unavailable for purchase in all regions by June 30, this Thursday).
If you purchased any of those games digitally in the past, you're not losing access to them. Also, if you already own Ace Combat 6, you can still purchase and use its DLC. No word on multiplayer functionality. But if you never bought them digitally, you can no longer buy them.
My apologies for not alerting you guys sooner - if I had known, I would have said something about it. I literally found out just now, as I think most other people will be.
Perhaps it's either because of Bamco's decision to make the series completely exclusive to PS home consoles (at least for for the mainstream titles), X360 is nearing the end of its life cycle, or expired license.Â
Speaking about pulled-off games, After Burner Climax also suffered the same fate last year. Some said because of its expired license regarding the jets.Â
That's a shame, I guess I'll never play Ace Combat 6 now. I'm guessing they discontinued to the PSP titles because the old PSP-2000 and -3000 models are very outdated. Mine is so old that it doesn't hold a charge anymore, I have to keep it plugged in. And it can't connect to my wifi because it doesn't recognize my Wifi signature LOL. It's a shame to see these games go though.
RIP Xbox and PSP Ace Combat communities. Thanks to this those communities won't grow anymore (although the Xbox community is still able due to ACAH still being available).
