The Tornado GR.4 is a variable geometry attack aircraft produced by Panavia.

History[]

Strangereal[]

The Tornado GR.4 was produced in the Strangereal world as one of the final variants of the Tornado series, being a major upgrade to the ground attack capabilities of the Tornado GR.1. It distinguished itself from other aircraft of the same class by possessing a level of mobility comparable to fighters, giving it an advantage over less nimble counterparts such as the A-10A Thunderbolt II.[citation needed]

GR.4s were operated by Belka and Ustio by the end of the Cold War, and deployed in both air and ground combat missions during the Belkan War.[1] In the former, one of the most successful units that used the aircraft was the Graufalk Squadron, who were killed by the Galm Team over Area B7R during their diversionary incursion in March 1995 to allow the start of Offensive Campaign No. 4101.[2]

Tornado GR.4s were also used by the Yuktobanian Air Force, albeit sparingly as they seemed to prefer the GR.1 variant. A lone Tornado GR.4 was involved at the end of Operation Desert Blitz, operating alongside a long range fire support unit spearheaded by the Iowa-class battleship Upor. It was shot down by Wardog Squadron.

During the Emmeria-Estovakia War Tornado GR.4s were widely employed by the Estovakian Air Force as ground attack and anti-ship aircraft, Tornadoes were seen conducting anti-ship operations against the Emmerian 2nd Fleet led by the Marigold during the Battle of Ortara, large numbers of Tornadoes also engaged Republic of Emmeria Army forces during the standoff in Silvat Town. A notable Estovakian Tornado GR.4 ace was Zoran Mikulanec (Callsign: Drakon) who was shot down over Sipli Field by Garuda Team during the Battle of Sipli Field.
